Here are some photos from today. The rain made my point and shoot hard to work with but with a little photo editing they turned out alright. Comments and criticism welcome. Front bumper trim, e28 rear spoiler and a few other goodies will be going on the car soon. I have a bit of an oil leak but it made for some some cool photos.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Careful with oil leak + header wrap. It will catch fire and roast your car.

Especially if your turbo is leaking and your downpipe is wrapped. It'll soak up the oil and when it goes, it really goes.

        Ask me how I know.

Thanks for the heads up pandaboo, I just replaced the oil return line and redid the threaded fittings which I believe solved the leak on the oil drain, but I noticed another leak on my oil cooling lines so I will have to redo those again.

The good news is in about 60 degree weather and wet pavement, she spins all four!

Heres a couple more pictures for ya.

I got the bumper trim on the front bumper and mounted the e28 spoiler as well, but I don't have any pictures of that yet. I am planning to do a mixed surface rallycross event on saturday so I need to finish the oil leaks, strap down the battery, and a few other things to pass tech. Hopefully I'll make it!

                Thanks guys.

I redid the oil connections, it seems I forgot the teflon tape on a couple of connections. Now its just a seep so I can live with that (instead of a drip).

I also worked on the tune last night. Before the idle was stable but always at about 1050 rpm so I messed with the ignition tuning and idle advance settings. The idle advance was at about 10 degrees at 1000 rpm and 16 at 600 rpm so my target rpm curve of was interfering with the idle advance settings.

My spark map was at about 16 degrees below 1500 rpm. I pulled the timing advance back to 0° at 1000 rpm and pulled the spark back to about 8° and it seems much happier idling about 800 rpm.

I also adjusted the Accel Erichment, Decel sensitivity so it would fuel cut when coasting. Before it would hit in and out of fuel cut and surge a little bit when coasting. Now that is resolved. I also pulled back fueling as on boost I would hit 11.0. I wanted that closer to 12 at WOT and 13.5 instead of 12 on part throttle transitions. Cruise is good around 14.5.

My Accel Enrichment Accel settings seem to be interesting. Right now I am 100% MAP based. When I watch that, the signal is very erratic for both the MAP sensor and the TPS sensor so I am not sure why it has so many spikes and dips. I will have to investigate if it is noise like a bad connection or a bad sensor.

The car is good enough for rally cross tomorrow so we shall see how it does. Here is a picture at the gas station with the e28 spoiler mounted. I couldn't get it to fit perfect but it looks like it was meant for the car. I really like the 3 lines on the it that match the bbs front and the early iX side skirts.

As far as the exhaust goes, I ordered the Magnaflow 12198 Muffler so that should look much better than the current fart can. I like the current sound but it is a little loud and droney at cruise. I can't get it quiet even at 2000 rpm. It turns out lots of truck guys like this muffler. 3 inch inlet, dual 2.5 inch outlets. I just need to decide on what tips to throw on there. Since the early e30 rear valence doesn't have a slot for the exhaust pipes, I'm not sure.

maybe something like these two. or dtm style tips.

So I do have a slight issue with the car. When boosting when I shift it will blow a bunch of blue smoke out of the exhaust. I tried it up the hill by my house and it happened 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th. What could it be? It doesnt happen when boosting but only after I shift, then look in the mirror and I see a cloud of blue.

Maybe the oil drain or something sucking oil past somewhere into the intake?

Do you have a restrictor in your oil feed line?

No restrictor but its a journal bearing so I didn't think i needed one?

Generally speaking JB doesn't require one, but if you have excessive crankcase pressure it'll sometimes cause what you're experiencing, which can be fixed by either a small restrictor or obviously fixing crankcase pressure.

Just something to consider in the grand scheme of things!

Hmm, well my valve cover vents to atmosphere right now, that should reduce crankcase pressure, right?

EDIT - I found a kind in my crank vent so I added a filter last night and shortened the hose. We shall see if that fixes it today at the rally cross!

I'm a fan of the Mann Provent setups to let you run your PCV pre-turbo to still pull vacuum on it like factory.

                                http://www.idparts.com/catalog/produ...oducts_id=2334

It's essentially a catch can with an oil separator and a filter on the line that goes to your intake so you don't end up with oil condensing on the inside of your charge piping.

The downside is that you'll need to make another return on your oil pan for it.
