Things are starting to come together some and make sense, New 944 booster / Servo in, New strait 25mm / 750 Master cylinder, And sorting out pressure sensors
Testing the stereo, Feels good setting here. But still immobile..
Making / adapting a fitting for the fuel system
Replaced my horn contact spring!
Tapped into pressure sensors for the AIM Data
Ran new stainless fuel lines and brake lines to the tank. Used E46 fuel / brake line retainers trimmed down, and sourced some fancy screws off Mcmaster
NOTE: insert 2 photos
You can see how much tidier things are, ESP with the woodward fab steering Joints
Used the E46 connector box for connector mounting
Yaw sensor repositioned with the LCQ-1 in place.
Soo, I think the unavoidable happened... I don't think the system will have enough BASS, Subwoofer, join the chat. Alpine 300W all in one.
Not to shabby for my first "Speaker Box" Coming in at 13LBS
And got the front speakers finally buttoned up!
Really Motivated to make it to The Vintage! in 2021!!!

WERK.
Made a cool heat shield vs a boxed in area for an intake on one S54 E36s. Packaging was to tight
Track day inspection on DTM style caged E30M
Closer
Returning from the race the truck was left with not much fuel, made it less than 5 miles while taking a car to indy... This was the first time I had to walk to get fuel, carry fuel back in cans, Call someone to help get it going (Girlfriends Dad..) What a month

Pre- Racecar.
This month has been super tough, Getting racecar together, and having Van tow rig issues. Low fuel pressure battles. Good news is I got some of the preventive upgrades out of the way. And Work....
Fault p0087 - Can't forget that fault
Replace fuel filters - Black stuff
Drop tank and clean algae
Replace fuel filters
Upgrade - install Airdog lift pump
Replace Fuel Pressure relief valve - Bosch
Replace Injectors with LLY injectors - I look the parts guy in the face, I said are you sure these are correct and I don't use the LBZ injector. This guy working at a place that is called diesel injection said it takes the LLY injector
Replace Injectors With LBZ Injectors - WTF.. That's all I got avoiding a rant and frustration
Kennedy performance tune
CP3 high pressure pump - FUCKIN FIXED....
I didn't do the work, The injectors take about 11H (This go it was X2!) and the CP3 takes about 11H. Unfortunately fortunate, The van wasn't ready to tow for the race, But my girl friends dad let us borrow his 24V Dodge and trailer.
First world problems right... My Mindfulness Reminder.
Everything is a learning process.. I'm the guy towing rolling in the truck stop with 20 miles to go maximum on fuel to make up time while traveling. Low fuel tank level can cause cavitation in the CP3 pump due to the feed line being under vacuum. ESPECIALLY when there is no lift pump! Common Duramax upgrade. A Durmax guy who had a shop a while said from the beginning, 150K = CP3 and Injectors, I was at like 147K... Diesel trucks are expensive...
I don't know if this as a LBZ or LLY injector but they look the same minus a code somewhere..
And we finish up the lighting for next months 14H Race.
Backlit Amber lighting for switches and bits

Sometimes you just know somethings going to break, The more you think about it, the more it pokes in your mind the sooner it seems to let go. Welp everyday day is exactly the same. We had a the shift linkage break with 2 hours or so to go, the kept us from podiuming AND kept us from clinching the AER Team Championship.. I remind myself 1st world problems. Not called to podium, I/we were reminded i guess were human after all. Our first non podium Race. Go Team!... But we really have been phenomenal all year, even including this failure. And always in my mind what's next...Last edited by moatilliatta; 02-05-2021, 03:17 AM.Leave a comment:

Prog
Finally, I think the best stereo match for the E30. Sounds much better than the Conti/ Vdo radios and so much more appealing.
Sorting out a better steering shaft
Much more proper upgrade with Woodward components
Clutch line ran, Fuel filter relocated, S54 FPR housing with 3.5 bar regulator, Worked out pretty well and should pretty direct swap over when S54. I phone likes to not take photos in the orientation that they show on the screen, and photobucket doesn't allow you to rotate... Unreal..
Working up some new fuel lines in stainless
Mini bead roller
Inspirations
Racks tidied up and aligned now, waiting on things to slow down to finish the ohlins up front to match the rears.. New power steering hoses and reservoir.
Although "WORK" I decided to drive vs fly to Watkins Glen. Perfect any day in fall. What a super stressful month!
Early Departure in the ,morning, a freshly cleaned Ti
Early morning coffee shop, Traveled 2 hours and found the earlies coffee shop opened <3
Decided to recap on some of my fav albums during the trip

Van - Diesel leak on the way on, Luckily it was minor, but what an annoyance of complicated filters.
Racecar CONT!
The Last race of the year is a 14H race that runs about 6h in the dark at NJMP, we started prepping for the big event just a few months away.
Sending it
This seams to work..
Fitting sealed LEDS into the factory sealed housings / Buckets. Odd tight fit, works ok, tedius to fit.
Good progress!
Upgraded brake lights with leds and refitted the 3rd brake light. We ran though about 3 different bulbs and found better ones thought the years.
Getting the high beams fitted

Small but huge prog
ABS has comfortably made its way into its new home. Feeling much more confident in its location, A bit tight but cozy. If brake booster/ servo needs slotted over when it comes down to S54 time should be much simpler. I did have to shorten the Clutch Master, Tap and put AN fitting on the end, should work well. I already trimmed another Clutch master for my spare parts kit. Luckily the connector reaches and fits quite well. I'm going to re do the steering linkage as it was never assembled currently and the U joints are out of sync.
Ideas Ideas
Materials are the same, lighting and exposure vary the shade captured.
Normal ops, Spec says one size vs reality.
Broke another one of my favorite flaring tools again.. These are hard to come by..
318ti got some love, Replacing the steering rack with a ZHP unit, the current on has been leaking for years. Stop leak helped but made the fluid cavitate in the winter.
Out with the old
New pump also!

Thanks! I'm glad to be able to continue updating this umbrella of a project. :)
Its a hard mix to have your cake and eat it to. A complaint racecar this isn't a racecar, but could daily it if wanted. NGT / Clubsport / GT3 all inspirations
I bounce back and forth of labels that I would put on the car, Currently would be something like E30 "GTZ", I think a proper period correct clubsport / Group N for an E30 would be M20 on 15/16's. But when you start looking at the GT3 variant of the 911, the bigger wheels pop with the bigger motors, Non turbo. Although the current GT4 Clubsport is quite an influential package.
I probably wont go with the forward bars though, but its nice how the NGT cars pull them in tightly.

M50 timing chain guide - Febi
I ordered last one my supplier had in stock, the circlip wouldn't go on that holds the guide. and after looking at it the hole was drilled cockeyed. Ordered one from the dealer, only to find out it was 2 weeks Germany... Delays Delays, just another day..
Truck in house? Good or bad, that's life, it was there for a week, I drove by it once, twice a day... Seems to be wrecked calls all around, the city impound lots are topped. Areas in the last 5 years are not so rough, things have cleaned up. Homelessness and opioids, needles are running their course. Although this thread is the day to day of what helps and limits my E30 progress. I'm sure this discussion could run it off track. A problem out of my current wheel house and a hard route I don't think were quite set up for.. and could be discussed and battled till the end of time.Leave a comment:

Car was due for some defiant service.
A half season maintenance were dampers, Wheel bearings, Rear wheel hubs, wheel studs, Inspect clutch. And the standard pre event Fluids, Brakes, Alignment, Inspection, Blow out radiators, Clean air filter, nut and bolt, organize the parts and food bins.
The new Bilstein's are crimped in and not really as service able.... Always something..

August 2020.
Slipping in some prog!
Welp.. I moved my ABS. Just not confident where it was setting. Whenever this goes S54, and if the booster / servo needs slotted to the side, I don't want to have to make the change and re-plumb all the lines..
Digging though clips and brackets for the extra brake line going to the rear, E30.TV sells this in their complete kit but not separate.
Still brewing ideas for the interior, Now that the seats are heated and cooled and wiring will be getting closer to done. The half caged business casual look hopefully what comes about...

I feel bad about commenting on the least cool part of what you posted, but what was that timing chain guide for/from in post 110?
