    E30 the biowaste - metamorphosis to M52

It's time to write something about my racing E30. I bought it just as a empty rolling 320is shell with a rollcage.

After putting in some basic stuff like Corrado/RX7 brakes, rally coilovers, 4-speed dogbox, Quaife torsen diff and M20B28 it ran quite well.

Dynoed this in my ex Bosch FLA 203 chassis dyno. 259hp DIN.

    These need to retire now.

These need also more attention. The rose joints get loose every now and then.

      Nice numbers for a b28!

      Are those s50b30(2) throttles?

      Curious of the engine specifications.

ITB setup is combination of dBilas intake and Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies. It has slightly too large diameter compared to the engine output I think.

Actually the first B28 suffered from oiling problem and spun a bearing.

After that I built a new engine. Another 84mm crankshaft, new 130mm H-beam rods, forged pistons from IE ( originally targeted to a B25 with 10.5 compression ). Std 885 head + Schrick 304, bulky tubular headers. But now oil splash shield + scraper fitted !!!

Enjoyed the read ... keep it coming.

I recently picked up a retired '88 M3 GTS2 car that I'm bring back to the street somewhat. Auto cross & some parking lot racing will be its limit + some spirited street driving. No TUV or MOT here in my State so ... run what ya brung on the streets!!

Looks like a fun car! Could you post some more pictures of the trailing arms when you have a chance?

Yes I will. When I got the donor car, someone had started the trailing arm modification for 0 ( zero!!! ) sweep angle. I dont know why, it was not meant for drag racing but gravel rally instead.

Anyway all I could do without major labor was to relocate the mounting points, resulting with 8 degree angle and rose joints in all 4 connecting points.

It's really difficult to adjust and gets often loose, so I need to do new setup. I will post pictures then.

Yesterday I changed a new bearing/hub. Seems that the original dust ring will not work with SKF hubs, so I removed it. Should not be bad for a race car.

Proper race car bits. Love it!

Done some websopping. M3 bodykit came from ACM, quality was big disappointment compared to the price.

                          But Ebaying a Z3 crossmember+arms compensated!

This setup is going to retire now. Unpossible to adjust while in place. I will build something more simple from the Z-crossmember

                              These pins are excellent innovation!
