Its design is also incoherent.
I like designs of Frank Stephenson.
They are so simple, but beautiful. His Mini is the best Mini.
Of course, his simple designs are not welcome at BMW.

I don't think this is true, I mean at least it's not for the 2016+ SPA platform cars.
I'd buy that china is behind the ugly electric crap they're pushing, and I think production is shifting away from Sweden (I mean chinese market volvos have been chinese made for a while, and NA market S60s have been made in NC for at least this gen, but the XC/V lines are all Sweden factories for markets outside of China)
The EM90 (?) upcoming electric minivan IS based on an existing Geely platform that sells in china - it's not me just saying they're bad because they're ugly or electric.
Editing to dunk on the EX90 - the supposed electric successor to the XC90. This thing seems to keep getting delayed, and I honestly don't see the point of vehicle this large that doesn't have endurance.
And re: New 2er - it's a fucking boat, but it has made me realize how good the outgoing 2er is.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

Super interesting video, the two series just scratches my brain in the right way but its neat to see a designers breakdown of the car, a lot of unnecessary elements in the body that seem to be all too common these days, i miss brick shaped cars

Wheels are a tough market too. There's almost no tangible value in "genuine" wheels for a vast majority of customers, only bling/bragging rights. A few pounds of unsprung weight isn't noticeable in most conditions or by most drivers and the added strength of superior metallurgy is hardly noticeable because only the very bottom of the barrel wheels will fail from normal levels of abuse. Some cheaper heavier aftermarket wheels are bound to be more damage tolerant than highlight optimized super light weight wheels especially considering the fatigue life of AL. And the price gaps are astronomical; 2-3x.
I thought the old one (first gen) was heavy for what it was, now we have the ugly generic looking sedans which look like rebadged 2010s dodge darts and weigh even more than the 2010s 2 series, and an M2 that looks like a low poly model of the old one stretched horizontally, which weighs more than my E34 wagon. One of the worst things is that with the transverse 2 series sedans now even BMW has hopped on the stupid plunging belt line styling trend.Comment

Yeah I honestly think a clean E82 or E90 would be a great pickup at this point. Cheap, new enough that they're not E36-rotten, Lots of manuals, a little lighter, good aftermarket, mostly well built besides the engine issues.

And I apparently have a high tolerance for needy engines.

The E82 is going to skyrocket in value IMO, its just a matter of time before people realize its the last of a dead breed, NA I6, small, light and sporty, and like you said a ton of manuals and a good aftermarket. Such a blast to drive, just need to get one that hasnt been fucked by the previous owner

Yes, things are worth what the cost is to produce them, or replicate to a level almost no one can differentiate from a more expensive product. Ultimately, Recaro and BBS probably won't vanish, so it won't matter.Comment
