I voted for Obama (independent voter) this time around and I completely agree this is a gigantic mistake on the part of the Nobel Committee....he hasn't done anything to deserve the award aside from win a popularity contest. This only serves to vent Europe's rage at Bush by nominating him so soon, and in so doing, it simply cheapens the meaning of the award. Or what meaning there is left post-Gore.

That's the nature of US politics in general. I said this before the election too.. doesn't matter who wins/loses, nothing much changes. This is both a good and a bad thing. In less mature democracies, leadership change involves wholesale changes in policy and impact people greatly.

If you really think that, that's pretty sad. Nothing in my life has changed over the past year, except classes have gotten harder to get into because of so little money for education and teachers being cut. I don't know what this new route in history is you speak of, but it is total bullshit. I say that not because of the fact that he is a Democrat or Half-black, but because he is a politician. One who has done nothing to shake the stereotype of politicians as caring more for special interests, pork-barreling, and making promises he can't possibly keep.

chill out man. it's just politics :) I haven't had to change a thing and I don't expect I'd have to either. I'd like the tax code to be revamped, I'd like the wars to be ended, so my tax dollars arn't wasted on them. The one thing I did expect him to do is to end these wars, not send 40k more troops to fight a losing battle. For that alone he doesn't deserve the peace prize but I really don't give a fuck that he got it either. I don't much care for what norway in particular has to say. They are hypocrites that support terrorism in other countries for their own ends.

Socialism has been a part of this country from day 1. It is not some evil ideology that has yet to be introduced and will cause this country to fall into chaos and decay. It is a spectrum and all Obama is doing is moving us further along the spectrum like every single President before him.
