The fuji crap you can get from walmart is actually pretty good. Its definitely not the best, but you probably don't want to be burning through 10$ rolls while you're learning.

NICE! That is a great shot. Night photography is a lot of fun. Its hard to get right, but that is the beauty of it. When you get it right, the results are always stunning. You got lots of stuff going on in that pic. You have great color, you have the two planes flying over giving both a sense of movement, and time. You also have the sunset as well as well developed stars. That is a tricky one. Did you use a graduated neutral density filter? Since the stars are stationary, my guess is that its two separate pics that have been combined. The stars are bright, but so is the sunset, that is why I'm guessing this. I'd love to know if I'm wrong or right ;) Either way, great shot.

Hey Cabriolet did you shoot in raw? cause that makes a lot of difference with White balance in that situation.

Anyone here shoot with 35mm? What would be a good B&W film?

My helper says. Fuji. Neopan is about as good as it gets. Just has to be developed in B&W specific chemistry.

Ilford HP5 is nice to work with. If you can find any Agfa's around anymore, those are very very nice.

You can probably scoop up Kodak Tri-X really cheaply soon since Kodak went under.

All have to be developed with B&W chem, no C-41 processes (color development) unless you are using the Kodak T400CN film which is just a faux B&W film

forgot to switch the white balance on sunny day/auto

I did do 30 seconds of post processing in Lightroom. Increased the clarity and tiny adjustment on the blacks and contrast. DONE

What you are seeing in the image isn't the sunset itself but the Zodiacal Flare visible this time of year after sunset. The image was taken 1 hour and 5 minutes after sunset.

The two brightest objects in the sky are the planets Jupiter (left) and Venus (right, the brightest). Directly above jupiter near the top of the image is a star cluster, The Pleiades. Luckily moon-rise wasn't until 11pm so the stars were still visible.

^ nice light and tones on the truck. Something alittle funky with coloring of bed vs front of car imo. Also are the lights supposed to be that dark???

Location and composition is a little flat/boring imo.

Thanks. The bed is a flareside so the lighting is a little different. The lights are aftermarket ones with black in them, so yes.

Location is horrible, just outside the shop, just wanted a quick shot of the truck.

Oh, and for the guy asking about film. Just go to flickr and type in the film you are interested in, and what type of camera/glass you are using. Doing this is much cheaper than actually buying tons of film and testing it. Remember that film is a personal preference, and you can use different types to achieve a desired end result.

Just started out with film photography so I'm still getting the hang of it, Only used Ilford hp5 as it's readily available down the street. Will be scanning a few photos soon once I develop my negatives.

The ISO of 3200 explanes a lot. What camera are you shooting with? I see you have the noise reduction on, but still, shooting 3200 ISO usually has a lot of grain to it. I've been doing really long exposure at ISO 200 at most.

One of these days I'm going to have to head out to the coast to shoot some stuff like this.
