One of these days I'm going to have to head out to the coast to shoot some stuff like this.

Canon 60D. I am aware of noise and grain introduced with higher ISO but the canon does a relatively decent job (for me) as i'm not pushing up to the max 12800 offered. 3200 is workable for something as short as 15 seconds. For me, it was more important to get the stars without them moving, than to leave it open for one minute at ISO200.

If I were doing a time lapse i'd still be using ISO1600 at 30 seconds because random photo noise isn't an issue when made into video.

To each their own; i was satisfied with the shot. It was a balance of trying to capture the flare and still be able to see stars, but this wasn't really to highlight all the stars in the sky. Just the False Dusk and the two planets.

Its a fantastic picture. My D7000 Nikon supposedly does pretty well with high ISO, but I've never really tried it. I've been going for star movement, and that sort of thing. Perhaps in a month or so I'll be able to go shoot some stuff with a higher ISO.

I've done a lot of work with Tmax 400, it's a VERY flexible film. Good for newbs (forgiving dev process), and clean enough to do 8x10s all day long. Much larger than that and you'll probably want to drop to a 200 or go to 100 if you don't need stop action abilities. I love me some slow film.
