As far as the hunter thing, I posted a link about it in a past post or something. I mean, humans weren't huge, predators with claws or a means of attack until the development of tools, which wasn't a long period between tools and stagnant agriculture. quote]
Bullshit. here's a small excerpt of an scholarly paper you should read. i guess you must be too young to have heard of Dr. Leakey.
notice also the idea of Neanderthal as 2.5 million years ago is corrected.
a link to the entire paper is provided below. oh, wait, only vegans have the brains/integrity to footnote their posts.
The oldest recognizable tools made by members of the family of man are simple stone choppers, such as those discovered at Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania. These tools may have been made over 1 million years ago by Australopithecus, ancestor of modern man

In contrast, there is no need to eat meat 2-3 times a day for "protein." Especially considering all the fat/cholesterol that accompanies it.
Now instead of twice a day, I eat meat twice a week. So no "holier than thou" attitude here about it, you fucking douche HarryPotter.

I eat meat & whey protien everyday to support myself. If you work out it's 1g of protien per pound of body weight. This stuff is also great for low carb diets.

Yessir. I'm actually trying to cut down on my BF right now and I'm making steady losses. So far so good. Messed with me when I first tried it and the hardest part is literally getting enough fat in my daily macros. It's nice though when I can cook everything in butter and coconut oil and eat tons of cheese. I also do intermittent fasting every once in a while. Makes planning meals easy.
The easiest part though is bacon. :p

I find protein slows me down during exercise, so I eat the bulk of it at the end of the day.
FYI, for general health your diet should be 45-65% CHO, 25-35% fats, 15-25% protein As stated in my nutri book

I found a great solution to not liking store bought meat - we raise our own four legged bacon, lamb, and chicken.
OMG it's so delicious, you don't know what you're missing. The first time I ate home grown pork I asked how it had been prepared, and the answer was "i threw it in a pan and turned it on". that's what happens when meat eats real food, instead of animal feed / all corn. there's so much flavor it's amazing. Even the eggs taste (and look) better.
F34R, not everyone is allergic to dairy. most people of Nordic decent have no trouble with it. I consume around 3 pints of whole milk per day.
RobertK, Last I checked, humans fit quite well into the omnivore category. (http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/omni.htm "There are a number of popular myths about vegetarianism that have no scientific basis in fact. One of these myths is that man is naturally a vegetarian because our bodies resemble plant eaters, not carnivores. In fact we are omnivores, capable of either eating meat or plant foods. The following addresses the unscientific theory of man being only a plant eater.") A "well balanced" diet would consist of fruits, nuts, vegetables, some grains, and a bit of meat here and there.
When I told my doctor about my meat intake (he asked), he looked a little concerned, ran bloodwork, and told me to keep doing whatever it is I'm doing when the numbers came back.
I'm not opposed to other people eating vegan food. In fact, lots of it looks (and is) delicious: I've even eaten a few vegan, dairy free pizzas which were OK. Now the gluten free stuff - that's another matter entirely. On occasion, if we're making it at home, I'll take some, fry up some bacon, and wrap the bacon around the formerly vegan food. Best of both worlds.

jk about the hipster part, but seriously. I think I will taper off with red meats first and see how it feels. If I'm feeling fresh as f*ck subsequently, I will continue to cut out the rest. I'm 19, 6'2" & 175 lbs with a too-fast-for-my-own-good metabolism, but my energy is always pretty low.. I think this is due to my over-consumption of meats. ya?

Haven't been pompous to anyone, I'm not the one calling everyone ignorant.
I said "ancient man", that article only goes back two milennia. I said 5.4 in the middle ages, the article you posted said 5.5. I ain't that far off.
Stupid argument here.Last edited by priapism; 05-04-2012, 11:09 AM.

Of course; each individual person is different and stems from different backgrounds. I'm not arguing that this choice is the end-all-100%-amazing diet. But I'm just refuting the comments that were made that were incorrect as research would have us believe.
As far as protein, this infographic is a quite informational graphic.
