This is Graham Jackson's well-known, well-equiped 110. Been across Africa several times. Self-sufficient for long distances. The orange bucket on the roof is the washing machine - load it up and drive!

Love watching all the old CT footage. Makes me appreciate my D1. Too bad it doesn't go off pavement much nowadays...

Pismo Beach aged me 5 years. Got trapped on a ridge with nearly a 60degree drop off in front of us easily 30ft deep. Couldnt go back so fuck it just went. Thought the back was going over the front and roll. Thank god it didnt. Kids with a Defender is dangerous!

d90 is one of my dream cars. Will own one some day. My friends was a turbo diesel. Hooked me for life. Got to rock crawl it a bit & learn the fundamentals of off roading in it. Awesome ride.

said drop cant really get a good idea of how massive & steep it was. haha

I would love a 90 or 110. But unfortunately stateside they are nothing more than a discovery with a 1000% markup.

                          The new 110? Seriously??

I suspect they're just testing the reaction with early ideas. That beach buggy prototype they're parading around is just silly.

Rumor is that they are doing a lot of redesign and revising. It has to be easy to mass produce instead of being screwed together by hand like it is now, it has to compete with the ROW Land Cruisers, and it has to prove itself tough and reliable in the 3rd world. It has to keep the dust and noise out a little better than the current one does. And it has to meet US safety standards, which is why we can't have nice toys newer than 1987.

Exactly - the prices for rusted old power company trucks are outrageous.

Ever seen a 100 inch Defender? I would love to build one of these. Lotta work.

                              Please explain.

My girl wants one of these (d90/110) pretty bad although also would like a disco.

You can get a D90 - they were sold in the US for several years. They are quite expensive, even in so-so condition. Many got used for rusty Nantucket beach duty, or shopping with fabulous glasses on Rodeo Drive.

A 110 is a rare animal here. You can import a 25 year old 110, so late 80's now. They are mostly used up utility trucks, ex-military, farm trucks, etc...selling here on ebay for $25k to 50k. The one year, special edition, "NAS Defender 110" is a holy grail since they only made 500. Many are painted up to look "restored" but are badly rusted. Steel framing contacted aluminum panels.

There are sketchy companies importing the number plates off the frame, building a brand new "1980" 110, and selling them for $50k.

An early Disco has the same frame, suspension, and basic design as a Defender, in a nice 100 inch wheelbase, with a Rover V8, and a very comfortable interior.
