    Ive got to take out the steering column to get the exhaust manifold off the truck.

    Fuck.

      Finally fixed my harness.

      So, odd thing, my RRC has a rectangle connector where the fuel pump harness plugs into the main harness. Every fuel pump harness I can find is a round, 3 plug connector. (http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/STC3683.cfm) Even Disco harnesses.

      So I ended up just splicing my rectangle connector onto the new harness and adding an extra ground to the frame.

      After searching around, I found this:

      Why would my 1993 RRC have a harness from a 1994-95 Disco?

      I wish cars could talk.

          It's British, with parts from god knows how many bins. Enough said...

              Man, fuck these window regulators. Right front one came apart again, along with the left front. This time I'm going to run a bead of silicon down in the channel and roll, but the left front channel got smashed by the glass/arms. Ugh.

                Pretty sure my drivers window just broke. I need to pull the door panel this weekend and investigate. Will roll down but not up. had to pull it by hand. Pretty sure it's the regulator.

                    Not yet. But from what I've read it's a deal of stress in poor welds.

                      On RRC it's a channel that the glass sits in, held by friction by a rubber piece. On the bottom are the sliders from the regulator arms. The channel will rust and let go of the rubber and detach from the window.

                      I tried gluing the rubber in, and it worked until it got hot. I'm going to try some high temp silicon this time.

                        Silicone is not really that strong, something like "Goop" brand shit is pretty good in this type of application. Super tough but retains some flexibility. You might want to consider removing most of the rubber to get glass to steel bonding. Cleanliness is paramount for success.

                          Love the thread, guys, what's the best year 'Disco to get?

                          Also, I know a guy selling a 1964 Defender and it's cherry. I mean it's loaded with as much crap a car (truck?) could come with back in 1964! What do you guys think a fair price would be?? Hard top, supposedly starts, runs and drives well....

                            96 to early 99 saw huge changes for the D1. The rover V8 got the GEMS efi system also gaining the 4.0 designation, more creature comforts and luxuries, more horsepower. Still great trail trucks, bit more problematic engine wise.

                            Late 99 to 02 got the Discovery 2. These trucks are longer, more roomy, and much more comfortable than the previous Discovery 1. These trucks while capable, were less trail savvy than it's predecessor. Things in the D1, like all electrics mounted high for water fording were now mounted low. BMW was in ownership at this time, and with that came Bosch management to the V8. early trucks had the CDL transfer box, but lacked the linkage. CDL swaps on early D2's are pretty straight forward. Later trucks had a different transfer box entirely. Land rover believed CDL wasn't necessary with their improvements with traction control.

                            With 2003 came a huge change. Trucks got a facelift and got the 4.6 out of the Range Rover, improved brake calipers were also introduced. They go more creature comforts on the inside and more features on the outside. These trucks are plagued with oiling issues and are common to see low mileage trucks needing replacement engines.

                            In 2004 the CDL box was introduced back into the Discovery as customers were complaining. Oiling issues with the 4.6 were fixed, but due to old, worn molds in the factory, the engine blocks were cast with poor tolerances and these trucks suffer with porous blocks, and slipping cylinder liners. Still 2004 is the most sought after year of the D2.

                            Keep in mind these trucks have aluminum bodies, but steel chassis. Won't rust on the outside but will on the inside. Rust likes to form on the rear arches, rear cargo door area, rear floor, and around the roof windows.

                              Just tore my door apart. it's a scissor type regulator, but one of the plastic wheels is broken, causing it not to roll up on its own.

                                Wouldn't be a defender, but a Series II.
