I feel if I bought a monitor that wide it would need to have a contour to it.... Similar to how my dual setup is. Dunno, being flat would make it awkward I think.

That's one of the things holding me back. I want a curved ultrawide.

If it was in stock locally I would probably go pick one up.

Are there even curved ultrawides at that price point?

Nah I believe you're getting into 34" 1440p+ way over $500 territory there.

I don't like monitors like that. The vertical resolution is horrid. I much prefer a 16:10 aspect ratio, but everything seems to be a shitty 1080p 16:9 format (PCs are not TVs!). Actually, the resolution on that monitor is too low for a monitor that large in general. I'm running a 27" at home with a res of 2560x1440. That monitor is probably a couple inches wider but the horizontal resolution is the same, and it's really too narrow vertically. the 16:10 is pretty much perfect to have two windows open side by side too (this is like having a 50% larger screen vertically!).

I agree you might want a curve with a wide format screen. I think this 27" is about as wide as would be useable - at some point you'll have to crane your neck to look at the screen, which isn't good. But even if it had a curve, it'd better have a lot better resolution than that...

I got this monitor so cheap, my only regret is I didn't buy two of them (it destroys my 24" 16:10 at work). It was sold as a factory blemish, but actually there's nothing wrong with it. It looks like somebody left a tiny smudge of a fingerprint on the inside of the glass, but you can't even see it while it's turned on. I went to buy another one and they were all sold out. :(

I wanted a 1440p monitor but at the time it was an extra $300. Not worth it to me.

The high refresh rate and response time is worth it lambo, way different experience.

i dont understand the jump above 1080 and above, you need soooo much more GPU power to run stuff on it when 1080 is more than enough to cover it and most GPUs can handle stuff to 30fps easily enough. #poorgamer

I use my pc for stuff other than games. I can still run at 1080p if i want higher fps. Really that res isnt high, lots of us ran higher resolutions 10+ years ago.

I really just want a monitor that is IPS, 1920x1080, 60-144hz, 1-5ms, 26-27". That would be my perfect monitor.

the only time i would ever use a higher resolution monitor is when using photoshop and other stuff involving photo and video editing, unless i am getting paid lots of monies to do so ill get by just fine on a 1080p monitor. even thin i would probably have it on a work rig and keep my gaming rig on dual 1080 resolution

IPS + high refresh rate and response time never happens though. Sucks

Edit: lambo I have that monitor from newegg you linked, best monitor ever.
