I've definitely made cars unpleasant for daily driving by lowing on too-stiff springs and installing solid plastic mounts. Now I just want the car to be responsive but also pleasant to be in.
Too low annoyed me. Car is high enough that it is drivable and fits real tires on the wheels. I only went solid on the steering guibo, CABs, Engine mounts, and Subframe/Diff, and I don't mind any of it yet. If I drove the car more, I might.

Ive always been a "weight weenie" as Sh3rpak!ng calls me... but damn these wheels looked good
However, going from those ESM wheels back to my SSRs was a significant weight drop, -1" wheel width but man it was like night and day on that car in terms of performance.

That was my first and last set of ESM wheels, which was before they went extra cheap trying to sell 5x120 and 4x100 patterns on the same wheel. Super fucking sketchy.
I don't like how my new Dekagrams look, but they certainly are light enough for me to look past it.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30

I'm keeping my resolutions practical:
1) Finish building out the garage (epoxy the floor, install heater, install sink, set up tools/tables, hang stuff on walls) - DONE
2) Build the new engine and get it in the car and running - In Progress
4) Hit 250 miles running, run a timed 10k, run a timed half marathon - Calling it DONE

I've told myself for many years, I would run 365 miles in a year to average 1 mile a day. Have never made it. And believe me, all my excuses were very valid!
2) Engine is being built and I plan to put it in over the winter
3) I crushed the running goal!
I ran 177 miles last year and set out for 250 this year. I hit that target on 4/18 this year. Then I set a stretch goal of 365 miles for the year, and hit that yesterday (8/21). My final stretch goal is 500 miles for the year, so I only need to average 7.2 miles/week to hit that.
I skipped running a timed 10k and went straight to a half marathon. My goals were to 1) finish, 2) be under 2 hours (9:09 min/mile), and 3) be under 1:50:00 (8:23 min/mile). I ended up running it in 1:41:48, so averaged 7:46 min/mile. My fastest long run (12.5 miles) was 8:03 min/mile, so I was SHOCKED to be so fast for the race!!!sigpic

I could post all my unfinished goals for this summer, but the only one relevant at this point is to survive.
I don't know if this is just what it's like having a kid, or if work for us is just crazy (or both), but there's just zero actual downtime.Last edited by Northern; 08-22-2025, 07:28 AM.Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30

Much like AA, take it one day at a time LMAO.
I'm trying to maintain some strength and can only get to the gym 2x a week for about 30 minutes between work and picking up the kiddo...
Someday I will clean up the garage...

Hey all --- Fair-Price-Fred this for me:
M50 (accessories incl I think) --- 130k miles I was told.
E34 Oil Pan
S50 Headers
$$$ ???
Came free with an old chassis I bought back. So this M50 I may try to sell it locally.
The rolling chassis is going to sit until I decide what I want to do with it, and I have no idea what engine will end up in the car.
...And having an M50 sit in my cramped 2 car garage is probably unnecessary.
Need to finish the touring before I even consider doing anything with the rolling chassis.

I think I'd try to get 1000 for the M50 and settle for as low as 500. I never bought an M5x for more than $350 with all accessories, but times have changed.
E34 M50 oil pan+pickup+dipstick prices are crazy these days, you may get 500+ for one if it cleans up well and you list it in the right places.
If they're stock US S50 headers, I don't think there's anything special about them? I've been trying to sell M52/S52 exhaust manifolds for years for like $20-50 and no takers around here. I put a few of the rougher sets out for the scrap vultures. Aftermarket probably worth something if name brand, and like $50 if not.
