Ask him for a picture of him holding his ID next to his face in the bathroom mirror. Not a hallway mirror or a bedroom mirror, but a bathroom mirror. Then demand that he pre-pay for a large pan pizza that you will pick up from your choice of local spots to prove he's real. Then and only then will you reimburse him the full amount, along with the $150 via western union.

Just sent him this ... basically saw that the ID shows Veteran, and used 9/11 and Pat Tillman's wikipedia and my own connection with the Tillmans to type out this long ass email

Thank you for your service, its been tough in America since 9/11 and with its anniversary I find myself eternally grateful for those who gave their lives to Protect our Freedom. Do you know who Patrick Tillman is? He played in the NFL and left his sports career to enlist in the Army in June 2002 in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. His service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and subsequent death, were the subject of national attention when he was killed by friendly fire.
Tillman joined the Army Rangers and served several tours in combat before he was killed in the mountains of Afghanistan. At first, the Army reported that Tillman had been killed by enemy fire. Controversy ensued when a month later, on May 28, 2004, the Pentagon notified the Tillman family that he had been killed by a friendly fire incident; the family and other critics allege that the Department of Defense delayed the disclosure for weeks after Tillman's memorial service out of a desire to protect the image of the U.S. military. I believe this to be a situation where they wanted him to be a hero and help to enlist future Americans into the Army. Tillman was the first professional football player to be killed in combat since Bob Kalsu, who died in the Vietnam War in 1970. Tillman was posthumously promoted from specialist to corporal. He also received posthumous Silver Star and Purple Heart medal.

Oddly enough, I went to High School with Richard Tillman, Pat's younger brother so it hit very close to home. Richard is funny and was also the quarterback on the football team. He could've gotten any girl he wanted and ironically ended up with the girl that I really liked. They were perfect together, like a true All American couple. But like the true jock that Richard was, he ended up cheating on her with another girl and they broke up. So sad, I think the new girl was a lot freakier than Nicole was. Nicole was so nice, I think we would've been perfect together, but I played soccer instead of football and in America, soccer is like a game for kids while football is for men. Ironically those who play soccer have had better careers after school ends and football players end up with brain damage.

Anyways, I also noticed that you're ID shows 2000 Sample Avenue in Atlanta GA, but I thought you were in 6969 Timbuktu in Alvardo TX? Im a bit confused about where Im sending this Western Union. I definitely feel more comfortable about sending you US $150.00 so that the shipping company will accept my package, because you're a Veteran. US Veterans are some of the most trustworthy people. Please advise on where I need to send the money

well, he actually responded ... I thought that was the kicker... Guess I better find some cool Friday the 13th stories and see if I can keep stringing this spammer along more. Decided wikipedia wasnt cutting it and found a newsweek article to pull random info from... also found a fun reddit post to try and incorporate... https://www.reddit.com/r/highdeas/co...bezos_set_the/

Im afraid today is Friday the 13th. Unfortunately Im extremely superstitious so I will not be doing much today. I am using my computer for only one hour then I will be turning it off for fear of electrical surge. Ive read that my fear is a real thing. Its known as triskaidekaphobia, the fear of the number 13 has also created traditions such as builders skipping the 13th floor when designing buildings, in an effort to avoid bad luck, or restauranters missing out the 13th table. In Norse legend, there were 12 people sharing a meal in Valhalla when a 13th person, Loki (not the Marvel character but the spirit of strife) crashed the dinner and one person ended up dead. My employer has offices on the 11th, 12th and 13th floors and I cannot go up to the 13th floor. It has caused some problems at work, but I allow people to joke about it as long as they help me. I may have to eventually get a doctors note as its beginning to frustrate my boss.

Did you know the origins of Friday the 13th were biblical? References to Friday the 13th date back to Medieval times but some believe that it was inspired by the Bible. At the Last Supper, Judas Iscariot, who went onto betray Jesus to the Romans, was the 13th person at the table, potentially inspiring further fears of the number 13. Jesus was also said to have died on a Friday—also known as Good Friday—which has potentially resulted in Christians carrying the superstition from there.I am a devote Christian, so I dont take these things lightly.

Im sorry if this will cause any delays on your end, please bear with me while I go into hibernation today. I believe I will need more information than just this michael pattersons email in order to send you the $150 US check. You said a gift card? Is there a particular store you need the gift card for? I like buying stuff from Amazon, but Ive heard that Amazon is an evil company and Jeff Bezos is the antichrist. Did you know that he was involved with the fires in the rainforest so that people would google Amazon Fire more... a clever way to push his product. Alexa and Siri are also evil, but Im running out of time today to discuss those with you. I need to sign off before 10am because there will only be 13 hours left in the day.

            Talk to you soon

            -Simon

            PS please be safe today.

Car is in really nice shape. Taking a break while the compressor fills, but about wrapped up on the jobber. Needs shock/struts, timing belt was unknown interval, water pump bearings had play, did all the "while you are in there stuff" valve adjustment etc. Top has a couple of tiny holes from what appears to be from the cabrio lid, rear seat has a patch on the top, but overall a very well kept low mileage unmolested e30. Bottom of the valve cover is spotless, head has a light gold color which is typical of conventional oil changes.

These kind of cars are enjoyable to work on - much better than the clapped out swapped cars I typically have to sort wiring, replace bailing wire with bolts, wiring nightmares etc. lol.

Bradnic is a super cool dude. Also told me about a particular 885 head he recently purchased. :p

I've had a lot happen in the past few weeks, dramatically reducing my frequency of shitposts.

I went fo Civil3D training, and was unable to be online
Lady Melon wrecked her car, it was a 2004 Camry I inherited from my mother when she passed. It's only got liability, so we have been car shopping for her. Fortunately we were planning on getting rid of it soon anyway, so she's got money and whatnot for a down payment. We were hoping to snag a Fiesta ST, but the money isn't right yet, so we looked at a Kia Soul, 2017. A friend of ours is the GM at the local Kia dealership, so he's going to knock the price down for us, so it's a meh car, but price is great and warranty. She thinks it's cute.

We closed on Lady Melon's mother's house, final piece in settling that estate. Unfortunately, it cost me about $6,500 to get rid of it.
Balls, there goes all my fun money.

My grandmother passed away on the 10th, so I've got family coming in all next week for the funeral, and the estate succession process begins again.
Let me day, Lady Melon's mother passed in 2016, mine in 2017. I've become an expert on settling estates. Not looking forward to round three.
My family is all elsewhere in the country but she has a house here in BR, so I'll be the point man on dealing with that.
Also, she dies from Alzheimer's disease, truly one of the worst things to happen to someone, really sad to lose her, but glad there's finally some peace.

Selling the KTM and the Corvette, need to free up some cash, we're going to start hoarding cash to buy another house.

Such life, it never seems to take a break.

Also, the foum changed, it's aight. I have no clue why I keep getting flooded with notifications for posts to threads I'm not subscribed to, it makes the notification feature pretty much useless.

Dang man, when life craps on ya, seems like it does it all at once :(

So not sure if yall remember I went on a trip to Virgina/DC area and our flight got delayed for two days and then we finally went home, we also were traveling with a baby?

So for the last month and a half we have been getting eaten at night by bed bugs...we think we got them at the motel the airport put us in...

Wife started to noticed red bumps on her for a couple of weeks not realizing it was bed bugs. She gets eaten easily if she goes outside by mosquitoes. So we were thinking it was something like that. Then a few weeks ago while taking the sheets off to wash, we noticed a bug. Sent the pic to our friend and he confirmed that it is indeed a bed bug...

His company doesn't service bed bugs and tried to get us referred to another but that guy was like a few weeks out. Had we of know...

So we have another friend with a bug company and they do treat for bed bugs. The kicker is that we have Sleep Number beds and to get the containment cover you need for the treatment, we had to wait for Sleep Number to get them in stock and then ship to us.

So they came in this week, and they treated for the bed bugs today...

The lady that came was different than the first person that came and then told us we do need the containment covers. So this lady starts in on how that first guy doesn't know what he is talking about and that putting the clothing in bags in the attic wouldn't do anything as it has to get to like 150 degrees, the other guy said if it got to 110 that it would kill him. Now on this issue, we have looked online at a lot of different sites and all say that somewhere around 110 - 122 degrees will kill them. One said that like 110 degrees for 90 minutes and the other said if it reaches 122 degrees it would instantly kill them...so...yeah

Anyway we were told by the first guy that everything would have to be out of the house, us and the dogs as they would be spraying. Now this lady is telling us that we could have just stayed in the house and it would have been fine just not to go into the room. They are only treating our master bedroom. Granted our house is only like 1300sqft So it's not big at all.

We then leave, tell the lady to lock the front door and then the back she can just twist the tab to lock the rear door and go out the back yard via the fence gate...

So 3 hours goes by, the time we needed to be gone/out of the room for and we come to park in front of the house and the screen door is closed and the front door is wide open....oof

So we texted our "friend" that owns the company and have yet to hear back from him on that issue...

moral of the story...dont stay in crappy motels...granted we had been up for over 26 hours and needed to sleep. The room didn't seem "dirty" and we really don't know if that is where it came from. We didn't even have our luggage with us when we were at the motel.

So yeah life can throw a heaping steaming pile of poop on ya...but you have to find the happy parts of life or life will get you down...at least that what I keep telling myself lol

hot as hell in LA. ready for fall so everyone can stfu and go inside. good news - garage shop is done! FIL came down with snap-on chest full o' tools in august. replaced all soft brake lines on the e30 myself, some oil leaks fixed by the mechanic last week (m42 upper timing cover gasket / timecert fixes on stripped threads / replace crank seal) so that's all good. tundra brake upgrade on the 3rd gen about 3 weeks ago and all good. waiting for a rebuilt pumpkin for the 3rd gen from east coast gear supply, mine's making some weird noise at low speeds and it's not too bad to just swap out. after that, may be done wrenching for the summer.

                        that's about it.

if you didn't have your bags with you, then the bed bugs probably did not come from said seedy shithole hotel. perhaps they came from one of the other places you stayed on your trip. as a crew member that spends a lot of nights in hotels, i am really careful about where i put my bags in the room when i stay. first, i NEVER set them on the floor especially if its carpet. i also never set them on top of the other bed, sofa, or any sort of fabric furniture in the room. hotels pretty much always have a luggage rack folded up in the closet to set your bag on. that is my first choice followed by setting it on top of a piece of furniture such as a dresser.

i have a friend that owns a few hotels with his dad. he was telling me one day that any time a native indian (as in the red dot variety) stays in one of their rooms, it is pretty much guaranteed they brought bed bugs with them from the old country. he said they just call an exterminator to go fumigate the fuck out of the room just as soon as they move out.
