Just noticed this thread, figured I'd post up. About 2.5 months ago, I stopped eating fast food. At the time, I weighed 244. In roughly 2.5 months, after a couple of cheats here and there, I'm down to just under 230. I've also started drinking almost exclusively water with everything I eat.

The fantastic thing about it? Now that I've purged fast food from my system, I don't even want it anymore. The though of stopping to eat it almost makes me queasy. On top of that, I've also almost completely eliminated soda from my diet (with the exception of Red Bull, can't let that fantastic stuff go), but I don't even drink them that often. I've also been getting all of my coffees non-fat. The next course of action is to start elimination all the sugary junk food. I'm a candy junkie.

I'm a pretty avid snowboarder (1-2 times per week), and along with my job, I'm getting quite a bit of exercise. We have a membership at the local gym/aquatic center, I just have to start making time to get in there. I really like the cycling classes, and I want to start swimming to work out my knees, which I've always had a fair amount of pain in.

      NONSENSE!!!!

a 12 oz serving of Guinness is about 125 calories, compared to a Miller/bud lite 12 oz serving which contains about 100 calories. 25 calories wont make or break a diet. you can do 1 squat to burn off the difference of 2 servings!

I'm trying to gain weight. It can be just as hard and painful to gain as it is to lose. Good luck to everyone! Good on you being healthy!

Light beer, and more to a point "light" is nothing more than a marketing technique. Technically, the term light in the food/beverage industry does not have to specifically refer to calorie/fat/carb content, it can refer simply to a difference in color. This is almost always the case with beer, more than any other product.

          Little update and background story.

In my last year of university I decided to get healthy. At the time I was almost 280lbs. I've always been a solid, broad shouldered guy, but I was really out of shape and needed to change. I changed my habbits and within a year I was down to 187. That was actually too small for me, and I decided to not be as strict with my regime. That was in 2009.

Cue to January 2013. I had slipped back to my old ways and was feeling very down about it all. Even the sight of a scale made me cringe. On January 30th I stepped on ten scale for the first time in ages to see 273 looking at me.

Since that day I am back on my regime and as of today I am down to 246. 3lbs from 30 pounds lost. I know that seems not believable, but when I put my mind to it I drop weight like a mofo. Thank god for that!

Wish me luck! Mexico in the spring. Gotta look good in my mankini!

                    Height: 6'1"
Average workout: 1-2 hours in the gym 5/6 days a week.
                    Supplements: Vitamins and Protein
                    Starting Weight: 350

                    2nd Goal weight: 220

Started at 350 last November and decided to make a huge change as i was not happy with how i let myself go. Cut soda/fast food and anything unhealthy really. So far so good, getting down to my high school weight (first goal). Then from there, cut some more!

                      We use Almond milk.

                      Soy makes you produce estrogen.

                      Another easy breakfast thing is:
                      1 frozen banana
                      1/2 cup frozen berries
BIG handful of spinach (like 2 cups easy)
                      2 tablespoons of Chia seeds
                      1/2 cup of almond milk

Put in blender and blend into a delicious smoothie.

I've hit a plateau at 215. I'm not losing weight anymore for some reason. I've statted doing more cardio the past two weeks, and it is helping a tiny bit, but not much.
