If I had to own a e36, it would be the M3 vert, and my wife would drive it.
Own, wouldn't mind or never...an e36. R3V Opinion

This was mine, before an Altima going 55 in a 35 parked itself into it.
I absolutely loved that car, and plan on building one for a track rat, probably this year. Much easier to drive at the limit in my opinion, and more predictable.88 325is - S52 powered

i dont really get the hate. i love e30's but i couldnt pass up the deal on my 96 dakar m3 coupe, and i love driving this car!
i've seen tons of shitty e30s... you cant judge an entire chassis off of one car you once were in.
for me personally, i'll drive any bmw.Originally posted by blunti called my 17 yo paperboy "sugartits" in a christmas card 3 years ago. he never came back and im not joking.Comment

I like the drivetrains, and despise the interior / look of them.
That being said, I'd take one as a racecar, but never as a street car.Comment

Owned 3 definitely wouldn't own another one. That's probably only because I have more money though. If I bought another 3 series aside from an e30 it'd have to be an e92 (honestly wouldn't buy one of those either, doesn't say enough about me). I thoroughly believe that e36-e46-e92 are evolutions whereas the e30 is unique. Buy the best(meaning newest) one you can afford.

I'd own a M3, but it would have to be one of the rare lightweight ones, and stripped out, lexan windows, full cage, and sorted suspension. Beyond that, no, I don't want one. They aren't donor cars, they are just not very exciting. The motors are so so, I'd rather have an S14, S38 or M88 over any of the S5x motors. Still, an e36 only comes with an S5x motor so I guess I'll be stuck with it.
Eh, whenever I have that sort of $ to light on fire, I'll worry about it then. In the mean time, I'll enjoy the toys that I have.

I remember when the e36 was introduced and it was so far ahead of the e30 at that time in perception of advancement at least. The thing looked amazing and as a young guy I really wanted one. If I look back with that nostalgic eye, I can see myself getting one, and I had a soft spot for the ti's even.
But.
As I said before, would have to be in nice shape.Comment
