Man, I sure remember when $250,000 bought a REALLY BIG house. Nowadays, depending on where you live, that might get you about 1000 square feet. But renting a garage or a shed is what most apartment and condo dwellers do. Its more convenient to be able to work on your car at home because you can work as long as you want to and then when you get tired, you are already home. When I used to work out of a rented shed I dreded having to drive home all dirty and greasy so I can understand the need of wanting a house with a garage.

yeah, though with an apartment we will have literally a lot of money left over that with the other house we would be putting into it every month. and with all these "24 month, no interest" deals on tv and shit, we can easliy get a nice 50 inch flat screen and have around 100-150 dollars a month in payments and pimp out that one other room we have in our apartment.

but yeah, 250,000 now will barely get you a three bedroom one car garage house. in the shittiest of neighborhoods.

lol... "raking in" $2500 a month.

If you can afford a $250,000 house with $2500 a month I want to know what the fuck I'm doing wrong. And by afford I mean somewhat financially stable, and leaving your house more then once a year to do something fun.

Anyone who bitches about having to go out and buy a $250,000 house needs a kick in the fuckin teeth. Wake the fuck up and be glad you are where you are.

Yessir it is. I'm laughing at how disconnected this kid is from the real world, but I was too at 18. Still funny tho.

Its not that hard depending on your loan... I'm about to do it, I make around 2400 a month right now which is going up to 3200 next year but i'm in the process of getting pre-approved for a 200-225k place

This thread would be too easy... but I'm going to be nice.

Mike, do you REALLY want to tie yourself to a house at the ripe old age of 18? Don't you have plans and ambitions that could bring you away from your city? Don't you want to go to college so you can "rake in" more than $2,500 a month?

At 18 with even a good amount of money invested/in savings, I'd be afraid of what could go wrong with an income that small. You lose a room mate, you lose your job (I wouldn't count on huge job security at 18), what would you do? Make your mom make the mortage payments? I assume she is co-signing for you.

I'm graduating college in 2 months and I am happy to rent for a few more years. I certainly can't afford a mortage but even if I could, I'm not ready to take on that responsibility or tie myself to that one place just yet.

                                RISING EDGE

Let's drive fast and have fun.
