IMO these guns are really under rated. For the $$$ you really can't go wrong!

Looking for my next pistol...what do the R3V gun nuts think?

XD(M) or Glock. Will be 9mm. Will be a carry gun, though not a subcompact.

        GO!

I like XD's, swipe the top of the slide with your finger to tell if there's a round in the chamber. Swipe the rear of the slide with your thumb to tell if it's cocked. Good shooters.

I've shot a few Glocks, and they are excellent shooters as well, but I don't like the lack of safety features.

Good choice on the 9mm round though. Very controllable with low recoil, and great capacity in a full size.

When it comes down to it, you won't go wrong either way. Handle both, and decide from there. Because honestly, if you're goal is personal protection, you don't need the cocked/chamber indicators. An unloaded gun is a worthless gun at that point, so it should always be ready.

              Yeah, good points there.

At work I can carry, but not with a round chambered. As odd as it sounds, having a gun (in that instance) with less safety features and the ease of racking the slide are important to me. Ive shot glocks, though never the XD.

I personally really like 9mm. Have a couple of them and a .45. I've read some great ballistics info on certain 9mm rounds, and its a hell of a lot cheaper to shoot than .40SW or .45ACP (though I love my 1911 too).

What do you do that you can carry a weapon in NY/CT at all let alone work??? Also I subscribe to the school of thought less to remember to do to make that weapon effective when the adrenaline dumps the better. A good unmodded DA/SA is the way too go.

Have you ever considered a Sig 226/229 in 9mm for a carry weapon? they are Superb, I love my 220's I am a Sig convert, and I used to carry an HK USPc

                  1911's are my favorite.

I have a .40, meh. Next will be a 9mm, just seems much easier to land repeated shots where I want them.

I really want to find a good condition 92fs on consignment.

Just purchased my first handgun. For price/value reasons it was between the Glock 23 (shot 100's or rds thru my dads) and the S&W MP40c. I chose the SW because it felt better in the hand. The grip is better and the angle between the grip and the slide is not as extreme as the Glock. I'm exited to get some rds down the range!

Well, ive had my NYS permit (not to carry, just to own) for almost 2 years, on top of that I had my non-resident CT permit, which allowed me to caarry when in the state of CT. The CT non-res permit was mad easy to get. Took maybe a month and it showed up in the mail. Super easy. NY on the other hand, that took me 10 months. If i ever move back into the state, i can get my permit back 0 questions asked from what the pistol permit clerk told me.

But just this week I "officially" moved to CT and had to surrender my NY permit. Now I just have my CT permit and cant take the guns into NY.

As for work, my boss usually has a glock on him and allows anyone else with a permit to carry to do so, so long as a round isn't chambered. He's a pretty chill guy. You can always pick up a copy of the "Traveler's Guide to Firearm Laws in the 50 States" at our shop too...a motorcycle dealer

And actually, a guy i work with has the Sig P226 in .357 sig. Sick gun, though ive never shot it. He loves it though. I was looking at the Sig P290 (i think, been a while) for a smaller carry gun, but decided i can conceal my SR9C pretty well. I've always just wanted an XD/Glock, so i figured now's the time. There are many others out there too, haha.

My pops has a 92FS. I love that gun. Classic, fun/easy to shoot (my moms choice among all our handguns), and pretty damn accurate.

I've got Springfield Champ 1911, 4" barrel. That thing is probably my favorite handgun, period.

Nice! My uncle has that exact gun. He seems to really like it. Never shot an M&P but i have an old school S&W Model 915 that i love.

Hey I would love to see your 80% lower up close. I have been wanting to build a few myself. Looks good though. The only thing I would do is hold off and get some real glass for it. Vortex is ok, but much better options out there for that fine rifle!

I want the Burris AR-332, but money is soo tite nowadays. They had a Black Friday sale on the Burris for $269. Super cheap. PSA is having a Black Friday sale on the Vortex for $119!
