One of the things I miss about my M20B25 was the lumpy idle. Even with a refreshed ignition system it never idled perfectly.
It kind of gave the car a feeling of being alive. The M30B34 in my E28 has the same vibe.

This video shows it off best, although it could still be heard when a muffler was in place.

I like my idle. This at around 875-900rpm. I idle higher than the stock spec of 760rpm ±40 to keep oil pressure up and maintain stability/prevent stalls with AC on. I'm sure at 760rpm it would sound even rougher.

IE 272° cam, batch fire injection, one per cycle, 13.8:1 idle AFR target.

hahahaha with my history, definitely not!

Went back through my old phone "Camera Roll" backups and found some idle clips with the Ansa muffler in place.

First clip of this video is after I modified the exhaust packing, and second is the original Ansa system.
