4x100 big brake kit thread

Has anybody asked a Jongbloed retailer to test a fitment template against their wheel? They most likely have (at least) one in stock and can simply download the fitment templates, print them, cut them out and apply against one of their sample wheel...

Lee, I have ...they simply don't have a 15x9 wheel yet on hands so they can't test anything.

Have to wait until the sample / test wheel is available.

I am working with Ryan at Jongbloed as we speak. Running Lee's 300x32 all around, thanks Lee.

They make custom wheels so they can do whatever crazy setup you want. I just sent him Lee's SL template for reference. I am getting a set of 16x8 ET?? 305s built. Originally I wanted ET20 because we all know its a setup that would allow 225/45s. However, this would mean I could only use a 1" lip and he had concerns about valve location and wheel balance. He wants to use a 1.5" lip but this would result in something around ET10... If Im not mistaken the wheels would poke too much to allow full usability of 225s. Im a bit confused as to what the final offset will be and how much lip I will be running. Fingers crossed they mount up first time perfectly. We will see in a month or two.

Wondering if Jongbloed has profiles of their 15" rims in pdf file. I could probably help with shape and offset.

And as an insight not really related to brakes, my experience in term of rim width vs tire width for a track car goes as such

8" wide rim - 225 tire
8.5" wide rim - 235 tire
9" wide rim - 245 tire

Fitting a fat tire on a slim rim will result in round shoulders. Great fro comfort around town, but much less precise around town. The best result comes from straight shoulders.

Lee - yep, I’ve running 225 on 8” and idea is to switch to 245 on 9” . For comparison sake I do have 245 on 8.5 front and 255 on 9”? On the e34 and they are nice and flat sidewalks without bubbling.

That's my setup with Lee's kit using the 6 pot Radial mount Wilwoods and a 8mm Spacer on the ARC-8's. Clearance is super tight. Rears are same rotor size but 4 pot Wilwoods.

It is my understanding that the hub casting for the 4x100 ARC8 wheels is the same as on the 5x120. Therefore the hub is bigger than most 4x100 rims.

My setup,

E65 double brake servo unit

Front
-Mini Cooper S rotors 296mm with 4x100 in stock. Rotors been modified - center hole were made bigger and added a e30 oem rotors mounting hole to the hub.
-E39 all gasolines and 135kw diesel front calipers
-Adapters to fit those calipers to e30 front strut (those adaptors are for sale https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=423624 )
-to fit those rotors and to keep oe dust shield on, custom made spacers between rotor and the hub, 10mm.

On the rear.
-E46 328 rear rotors 294X19 , redrilled to 4x100
-spacer rings to make rotor center hole smaller to fit e30 rear hub.
-E46 328i rear calipers

A couple things to add to the thread.

I am currently running Massive Lee's 280x22 Front Street Kit with the following:
-Wilwood 120-9703 Dynapro Brake Calipers
-Wilwood 160-12892 Slotted Brake Rotors
-Motul 600 Brake Fluid
-Carbotech AX-6 Auto-x pad

Rears are stock with the same pads. Running the setup on Apex ARC 17x8.5 with a 7mm spacer in the front. I am also thinking about going back down to a 15x9 or 15x10. The brake setup stops extremely well. Next step is to add some brake cooling for the track.

I have recently been doing a ton of research on 15x9 and 15x10 wheels. Apparently the Miata track guys are finding that the fastest setups are a 225/45 on a 15x9 and a 245/40 on a 15x10. This is second hand information so take it with a grain of salt. Not sure that this is the same for an e30, but relaying what I have found. That said, I'll be running a 245/40 on a 15x9 when the 6UL comes back out in the Exocet fitment ;)

I'm running 15x9 Exocet. The template shows plenty of clearance on the 300x22 kit.

For what it’s worth I’ve tried both , 300x22 and 300x32 against my TRM 15x8 and 300x32 needs a bigger spacer than I want to run. 300x22 is close, clears with 5mm .
