So 115 shipped from a stock motor with 80k probably isn't a "killer" deal?

he is super sketch. That guy has had his E30 on CL for a loooooong time, his listing price keeps changing, as in up and down, it has gone from $10k to 11k to 10.8k yo 5.5k back up to 7k. I kid you not.

and Roland, thanks for the compliment! I'm not a huge fan of blue, but i can't complain too much, it's not like my car is a looker at all anyway...

Seems to be a fair price.

        What's the project?

I am sticking with my stroker plan. The cost of a turbo or swap is just too much for me. It makes WAY more sense to just buy a swapped car already and have two E30s once we get the house. I have been watching stroker parts for a few months now. I figure if I take my time I can get a great deal on Sxx rods and "e" crank. The pistons and labor is what costs money. My E30 has zero rust so I figured it can be a car I have for years and years. The MM pistons have valve pockets so if the timing belt fails it doesn't matter. The engine should last 'forever'.

Rad. Nothing at all wrong with a stroker project. Might be doing one here soon, depends on how high I can rev a crankshaft from a boat motor. ;)

LOL. Any leads on a good shop that can do motor work?

RH Motorsport in Golden for the assembly. Right by Colorado Mills.

Ridge Reamer in Arvada for the machine work, best in town.

Or, Autosport Werks has experience with stroker M20s, SCR shouldn't have an issue with it either.

Yeah, I figured I might be in best hands just handing it to Cal and have him take care of all of it. That will be a fun bill.

Or really how hard can it be to take a M20 out to send it to be machined/built then put back in?

I got a chevy 350 block cleaned, bored .030" over, honed, new cam bearings and new freeze plugs for about $300

...and then I painted it orange and then sold it

how hard is it to remove and reinstall an M20? not too bad, it may take 3-4 hours for removal and 3-4 more for installation if you have all the tools you need handy.

Are you planning on taking the M20 apart before sending it off to the machine shop?

And allow me to interject my opinion here: Why are you building an M20 rather than swapping in an S5x?

                          pretty easy, it's an M20. :D

Yep. Parts will cost much more than labor, and you can knock labor down quite a bit if you assemble yourself.

Been reading up a ton on the Chrysler Turbine cars and the GMC EV-1.

It's so sad that American Automakers actually had cool ideas that were actually plausible but then got trashed.

Like stated before it really comes down to experience (or lack of). I can do basic stuff but taking on an engine swap is too much for me. I would LOVE LOVE a S50. I just think the labor will be too much on top of parts. The stroker allows me to get into heavier car stuff without being screwed by piecing together a swap. I am just assuming I can realistly get a stroker for cheaper then a S50 in my specific case. Parts are under 2k for stroker I want. If I can get the engine in/out on my own maybe 500 or so for block work + assembly.

With the S50 I first have to find a used s50 in unkown shape and all that extra crap on top of it, then modify wiring/brake booster/transmount, etc. Blah

To sum up. I want a S50 more, but I don't want to pay over 3k for everything.

hmmm, I guess I thought a stroker build would cost more. Peter knows, he has a stroker M20 that Metric mechanic built, but he seems to have disappeared off the forum. His username is ZombiE30
