just so you know, an early 318i to a 318is is like an eta E30 to an E30 M3.

but if an early 318i is what you desire, there is this one that looks promising: http://fortcollins.craigslist.org/cto/1950324105.html

Its been on Cl for a while and i am sure he will take a heck of alot less than $1500, unless he is one of the knuckleheads that sells his car and never deletes the listing...

I am aware. Not looking for a performance car, but the 318iS is very tempting.

        heeeey, a 318is IS a performance car!!

and yes, do email that guy w/ the early 318i, they are horribly underpowered, but get awesome gas mileage. In the 40s iirc.

I'd wait and get a 318is personally. They are cool and you will actually want to keep it. An early 318i should only be used for a swap, nothing else.

Exactly, and maintenance is dirt cheap and they never break.

            cheap. reliable. transportation.

            Or hella tight gas mileage.

If this guy backs out on buying my S52, I'm going to reconsider a swap though.

Not denying the awesomeness of an iS in comparison to a 318i, but I'm not after a performance car really, the iS being the exception....

Yep. I'm actually enjoying trying to get better mpg in the volvo right now. Made it to 420 miles on one tank before the gas light turned on, and usually that means it gets another 50~60 miles before it's completely empty. The gauge says capacity is 18 gallons, but I don't know if that includes reserve or not...

Ok will do. I don't want to pay over $800 for one of those things unless the interior is cherry.

Adam, you should totally sell your M42 car to Roland (i didn't even know you had an M42 car btw) and use the money to build your other E30, and then Roland can finally be one of the cool kids and have an E30.

Yeah nooo.. I won't be selling my 318i 'cause its my first BMW, owned it for 9 years and only put 30k miles on it since.

It's a good deal indeed. That belongs to Tom though. David and Tom don't get along (but haven't met). I personally like the guy, a bit eccentric, but most New Yorkers are...

If you buy that car, you'll have a part from critter's first black car. ;)
