If money isn't a issue I'd go with S38.
So I was thinking these would look pretty awesome on my RC's

So my Wagon that I bought has electrical gremlins up the wazu. I don't have windows, locks, or cluster lights. Anyone savvy with diagnosing electrical problems? 94 E34 525iT.Comment

Tell me i'm crazy..
A 1975 Fiat X/19 came up for sale from a friend of a friend.
It's a brown color. Hasn't run in YEARS! Not sure what it's gonna need, seller wants 400.00 for it. Everything within me is saying AVOID AVOID AVOID. I find myself searching google and looking at pics.
and your "Everything within" would be correct , stay away if you want any hair left or any kind of life/money left . worst car in the world to try note i say "try " to keep running ,never mind drive the POS..... best this about them is they look good sitting there rusting away!Angus

Just not my cup of tea.
If I ever got back in a little mid engine car it's be an AW11 Chassis MR2.
Had a blue one in HS and loved it. Would've kept it but a clutch job was way out of my budget at the time, sold it for 450.00!

thanks for the input guys, I have never really considered the M54 as a viable option because of how difficult it appears to be, I'm not good with electrical. That is one of the reasons the M30B3.5 looks so appealing to me, it seems like it uses a very similar electrical system.
Also, just another thought, could a B3.5 block be stroked and punched out to 4.0?Dumpster Fire PilotComment

Ah, you're saying it's the same cost as s52, but the gains are less than an s52. So like ∆HP/$? Getting a whole donor car is the way to do it. And power increase depends on what motor you started with, obviously.-Peter

Yea all the S50B30's I see are 2.5k+, yet you can find S52's for 1000-2500. S50B30 wasnt available very long. They made about 2x as many S52USComment
