How do you guys go about putting a deposit on a car across multiple states? Thru paypal or Western Union & just trust the person?
How expensive of a car are you talking about? i wouldn't trust the average seller with a cash deposit, but if you are buying a car that costs substantial amount of money, I would use an escrow service to buy the vehicle.

Just depends how expensive it is. Document the deal heavily over email, get photos of the guy's driver's license, and mail a check. See if you have a friend in the area and have them hand it over after verifying the seller's identity maybe.
I had to mail a check to a guy in San Diego for a car that was in Philly, with a title in Maryland. It was a clusterfuck and a dangerous transaction, but everything checked out and having a friend on the ground was a lifesaver.

This is true but, I didn't really think much of because our parking lot is gated and its a heavy fucker. BUT, just found out a that one of the guys in the shop has been staying late working on a project and has been leaving the gate open....
REAL COOL.
Also a core tranny that needed to be sent back was stolen. That a $250 core charge, gone...
