My boss says his PRO3 car as well as the other one we work on sets the 02 sensor in 2.5" tubing after the Ypipe/Merge collector (pretty much near/close to the trans mount), he assured me i'd be fine.

The concept used to be, the closer the o2 sensor was to the exhaust manifold, the faster it would heat up. Th is of course was before heated o2 sensors (single vs. Three wire.) This is also why you used to see the sensors actually on the exhaust manifolds of 80's era small block Chevy motors (and others.)

It could have to do with cold start and the placement, though I'd have to review fuel management principals again to remember the reasoning.

new crank pulley fixed my m42 redline problem!!! did it in the dark with a flashlight, such an easy job :) Im totally stoked hooray!!! the old one did not look that damaged but the problem is certainly fixed now, the car will goto 6500 no problem

I have an UNI foam filter on there and it sounds pretty nice with the rusty hole muffler and fully gutted interior. I had a blast driving it tonight. perfect speed car to have fun with.

Anyone have an m50nv cam position sensor I can try out. I swapped coils and injectors, proper injectors helped a little but still intermittently running on 4 cylinders

Hey fellas, my E46m got hit last week, shell for sale, looking for 3300. Motor was not damaged. Just want to see the motor swapped into something instead of dragged into a scrapyard. 3 six oh for ate 5 8 seven to one.

the cam sensor also works on the m42, ask me how I know :P basically any dohc e36 engine uses the same sensor, so just throwing that out there. the cam sensor may be the problem youre having. my e34 m50 when I swapped injectors one day it sounded like a subaru on the test drive... ended up being the cam sensor
