Working on firing up the S14 today. So far, it cranks but no firing. Plugs are wet, spark is weak and erratic. Going to double check the grounds and throw some fresh gas in, will report back when she's up and running.

Any luck? How's the battery? A questionable battery will do all sorts of strange things...

How old is the gas in it? If it's not pure gas and over 6 months old, it may have pulled enough moisture to make it worthless.

                    Stupid corn fuel.

I would check to see if the subframe has been reinforced at some point. R used to be a TSB that they would fix for free, I got a then new e90 to drive across country for two weeks, but have since begun paying for only half the repair IIRC.

I drove my '00 328i for 3 years with no cooling issues.

Though, that time period was plagued with it across multiple manufacturers so I may have been lucky.

We checked the rear subframe out, and currently it is fine. However, doing all of the reinforcements is high on our to-do list in the near future. Don't want any of those issues happening, ever.

Got it running! (Sort of). Cyl 4 isn't popping, so it's running on three cylinders, not sure why yet. Compression test tomorrow to rule out anything serious.

Gas was absolutely useless. Drained it all and put in some fresh :)

                              OE cooling system parts only.
                              Change fluids regularly.
                              330 front brake parts.
Carry a spare coil- change all 6 if you're paranoid.
Carry a scanner- BMW Scan140 for me, but it should be BMW specific.
                              Fuel pump every 100k
                              Secondary air pump

                              stuff like that.

They're good cars, if you can work on them yourself.
Make no sense at all if they're autotragic OR you have to pay someone
                              to do the work.

Oil seperator/cyclone. The plastic flap will break and get sucked into the motor.
