I am sketched out by this........ it's sold. I'm hoping Wh33lhop's account didn't get hacked and we have round 2 of new dashboard fraud.

      Hey all-

Wh33lhops account has been hacked and I am out $800. The scammer I assume is the same as whoever took over the dashboard guy's account. I assumed it was fine to send payment via zelle since we all know him, and the scammer also sent a photo with username and date in it.

Sucks, but I hope I'm the only one they got.

Here's the thread the scammer copied.

Sorry to hear about it, he almost got me, but I found it a little sketchy when I asked him for more pictures he had already packed it for shipping, who goes packing things without having a buyer, plus I provided him my cell number for more pictures and he kept on replying via PM, he also sent me the picture showing his username and date.
Never sent payment to anyone without protection, I only use PayPal.

            An expensive lesson for sure.

It really sucks that scammers are using the last thing they have….. trust…. as leverage, by impersonating known folks on the forum. Trust was what made this community great back in the day. This issue will only be exacerbated further as tech/impersonation “grows”.

I love transactional trust. It feels good to buy stuff from people you know. Feels a lot worse to piss $800 out the window.

My red flags went off but it was justified because I assumed their credibility based on a profile, that wasn’t them.

I traced the Zelle email and found it’s abandoned. I can file a civil lawsuit and get Zelle to release the account info of the scammer, as the name on the Zelle is the actual persons name on their bank account, unless that is a stolen or deceased identity too, which I’m assuming it is.

Sorry to hear man. Hopefully you are able to trace any info you have on the guy through Zelle. The info I got from the dashboard seller was an address and number (Ron J 120 Sumter Charleston SC 29403 Phone Number (843)543-0799)

I was scammed from the dashboard seller and like 3-4 others that later messaged me about it. I have been skimming through posts since trying to see if I see scammy shit, but this one slipped. I do recognize the original post.

I almost got scammed with the the guy selling the dash and and new carpet, I paid $2500 for the carpet but I used PayPal with my credit card, after trying to contact the seller a few times and no response I called my credit card company and the problem was solved didn't even bother with PayPal as they tend to drag everything in favor of the seller.
My advice to anyone purchasing anything so yourself a favor and use PayPal and use it a credit card, if the buyer doesn't take PayPal stay away.

I have experienced this before. But the conclusion I reached is that I wasted a lot of time trying to find it. These guys are from Nigeria.. And they use stolen accounts. So you will just get tired. You will just spend more money!

Take this as a lesson and be more careful next time.
