I have built up an inventory of 9 rebuilt Blaupunkt trunk amps. Just sold 1 of these, please contact me if you're interested.

All major caps replaced with OEM grade parts
All power amp ICs tested and replaced where needed with the exact same automotive grade components
All wires between the main and connector boards are replaced. The insulation on the original wires turns hard and is extremely fragile.

      2 year no BS warranty.

Price is $175 WITH CORE. I only accept orders I can fill from stock. The core unit must be unmodified and corrosion free.

NOTE ON TRUNK AMP MOUNTING HARDWARE: I do not supply the mounting bracket or hardware with the refurbished amp. If your core amp has the hardware I will transfer it to your refurbished amp for you no charge. The bracket has been NLA for a long time now.

The amplifier PCB is in front of me. I don't see any power transistors.
It uses only +12V without any transformation, so the output of each bridged TDA2003 circuit is 14 Watts or less.

you're right I'm referring to the TDA2003s. You're also right they're not just a classic / old school power transistor. The correct term is power amp IC.

I've updated the first post to clarify that the refurbished amplifiers DO NOT include the mounting hardware. If your core trunk amp has the mounting hardware included I will transfer it to your refurbished amp no charge. If you do not have the required hardware to mount the trunk amp at all then you will need to procure it separately. There are several auctions on ebay live right now for the trunk amps, and some of those include hardware. I have also seen auctions for the mounting bracket itself.

Another amp going to Staszek. Several more available.

For those of you looking for a fully rebuilt 5908, bmwman91 has one up for sale on eBay. I source some parts for him, know him to be knowledgeable from his audio/electronics posts on this forum.

                      https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E30-Alp...d/334060297594

                      work done per his listing
                      • Replaced ALL capacitors on the audio amplifier/output board. The originals were bloated and leaking, causing really bad audio output. The sound coming from it now is nice and clean. New caps are Nichicon & Panasonic automotive-rated audio parts.
                      • Replaced both LCD backlight bulbs.
                      • Replaced the amplifier ICs' thermal paste with high performance Arctic Silver
                      • Replaced the cassette transport drive belt.
                      • Replaced the cassette transport with one that is in better working condition. It still has a couple of quirks, but it will insert/eject and play a tape. I went through 3 transports to find the best working one.
                      • Changed the CODE jumpers. What this means is that the code no longer matches the serial number, but considering that dealers are not really helpful anymore, it's a moot point (and dealers' lack of help is why I changed it in the first place).
I'm not a fan of changing radio codes, but most people wouldn't care unless you have the original radio code cards, or want to make sure your radio stays with the same code the dealer has on file,

UPDATE: bmwman91 has his radio listed for $400 here on r3v! lots of great pictures. He also got the original radio code from the dealer and put the radio back to stock configuration.

I saw that one. I also got sniped on a new in box Pioneer KE83ZBM.

Still looking for one, I can rebuild it myself if need be. I didn't know you could change the code jumpers? If that's true, then I can expand my search to radios with missing codes (or more importantly, radios where the serial number sticker is long gone).

I promised to publish some DIY guides on radio repair back in 2019. Probably time to get that going. The biggest challenge most folks will have are around the tools. A really good desoldering tool is pricey, but essential. It's also about 4-5 times out of 10 alot more involved then just swapping some parts out.

nando I have zero doubt you'd be able to handle it.

As to re-coding radios, what most people can do is inspect a radio with a known code and replicate / transfer that setup to a different one. Hard hacking the code on a specific radio is definitely not a DIY thing.
