The bolt pattern is different between the M50 and M54, but I'm sure that would be easy to adjust. Michael hasn't said anything about producing these in quantity, I'm showing what can be done and with interest anything is possible.

Frank Ramos alerted me to the fact that the M44 crank sensor is a replacement for the M54 sensor, except that it is VR instead of Hall.
This means a Hall conversion circuit is no longer necessary, I can get a native VR signal!
The sensor is plug compatible with an M50 harness and fits the block perfectly. I'm guessing this is also the case with the M52 and S52.
I've replaced my Hall sensor with the M44 VR one and the car runs. Only issue I am having so far is that the VR sensor generates very good voltage, but only tiny amounts of current. That little bit of current needs to satisfy both the 413 ECU and my VANOS ECU.
The part number on the sensor is 12141247622

Steve, thanks for all your help. This is just to let you know it's all up and running now.
I've fitted a M54B30 into an E30 dedicated race and track car. Not out of the ordinary, except that the twin vanos has been removed and the cams locked, it's running all M50 bits other than the head and block, including the M50 front crank wheel and M50 crank sensor. I've used the Zionville front thermo housing adaptor and blocked the heater hose outlet on the head. Have used the M50 intake and fitted and locktited set screws into the extra air inlet holes the m54 has at the intake. I'm using the 402 DME and am getting it remapped next week on a dyno, will let you know the results, but am hoping for around 220rwhp.
Again, Thanks.
