      Today's progress

I got my coupler in the mail to attach the airflometer to the TB and get the ICV in to the mix. $9. I wish I could go ahead and do the MAF swap, but I'm on a pretty good spending freeze right now. So, airflometer it is for the time being.

BTdubz, don't be jealous of my sweet 20 year old crunched K&N, it came with the beater.

Oh, well then Yeah! Great idea!

          Part 2:
Once I get the airflometer changed to a massairflometer, it'll be neato.

You won't need either as you will be running a MAP sensor unless you are really wanting to run an AFM/MAF?

Really? No, I'd love to eliminate that part of the setup. I thought I had read that, but my friend convinced me I'd have to have something. I gotta do more reading about the ms2...

Yep get an map sensor/iat sensor for tuning. Much much better way of doing things compared to the flapper and the maf.

Tuning a speed density system is MUCH more time intensive than tuning a MAF based system.

There's a reason the GM domestic muscle cars keep the MAF, even exceeding 1000 HP and especially with forced induction.

Yeah, so, where did you guys learn how to tune your ms2? I'm ready, I just get a bit overwhelmed when I start to read up on it. Is there a Ms2 for Dummies (or something) I could read? Or a thread that covers the basics so I can absorb some of it before I get completely confused? I can build tangible shit all day, but the digital stuff still baffles me.

you need to buy a copy of TunerstudioMS

                          you need a wideband

you need to setup a proper AFR target table. use VE analyze live to tune fuel (it's built into Tunerstudio). Tune ignition on the dyno.

the www.msextra.com site has a ton of valuable information (MS2extra manual, as well as the support forum). also there are a number of timing maps posted on e30tech which would get you started.

I suggest learning what each setting does. So many of the maps I've looked at over the years were just plain wrong, because people just copy things but don't understand them.

M20s are pretty simple to control and tune, so probably half of the features, or more, you don't even need to worry about..

I dont think this is the case at IMO, millers stuff takes much longer to tune due to shitty software. Although I havent messed with megasquirt and a maf the iat sensor is no different in tuning.

Ether if you no confident in a base tune, pm kamotors he tunes cars and he does it very well.

The GM speed density is much more time intensive to tune than MAF based. The MAF table is basically a 1 dimensional calibration, while for speed density each cell of the VE table has to be optimized.

And last I heard MS really doesn't do MAF.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I was able to get a little info to stay in my brain last night. I'm starting to get the vocabulary down. So when I read, it is more understandable.
