Febi HD Rocker arms

I was looking OEM prices from local Bmw parts dealer in my country set cost 12x66.84€=802,08€........Wooot, in dollars 934,71 for set

Ooofff. They are $50 around here. They had additional 20% off when I needed mine so it helped too. Again, all my OEM rockers came with eccentric and hardware unlike Febi and such. So that made it reasonable for OEM rockers considering the price of new hardware/eccentric needed with Febi or any other ones

I guess not enough demand on rockers for those or similar old school engines. I keep saving all old OEM rockers in hopes someone will offer good resurface job. ForcedFireburd used to do it (still does it?) but I didn't like his setup. He used grinder attachment that was designed for like Mopar 273 rockers (small pad that presses against the valve and not the cam), where grinding wheel rotates against the side of the pad, so I'm not sure how square and true that setup does the job.

I can see something like this working well (link below) if the holding stand built to follow correct radius of OEM new rocker arm pad. At ~$20-25 per resurfaced rocker with the core, would be nice offering considering crazy prices for new these days

So I was doing a pull in third and right before the limiter when to 4th and as it came down to 4k rpm I felt it missing. I drive the car very hard every time I drive it so it was just a matter of time tbh. Pretty much lives between 4-6k RPM

My clearance was set to .007 intake and .009 exhaust. like most people, my intake rocker broke.

I'm sure the tighter clearance played a part, but I've been running that for like 5 years now.

First rocker I've broke out of 16 years of m20 powered e30 ownership

As you know I'm doing my high compression stroker with ITBs but I aint even gonna start that until I get some steel rockers

Imma put an OE rocker for now to keep the car running and piece my other motor together while I wait for the steel ones.

If they are old rockers then aluminum fatigues and ages especially cast stuff subject to defects , highish temps etc. Rev limiters, old springs, worn lobes and lack of prudence on the lash settings are also hard on parts and the rockers are the weakest link. for a 288 cam sub 7200rpm i would still use OE alloy rockers but anything wilder needs something better

I am skeptical on the quality on those other KM or whatever brand the unfortunately the hole wasnt even parallel to the foot on the samples i purchased but this was well before they were being sold by bimmerheads so maybe they are making them properly now. i would probably be getting the pads refinished to as they didnt look great and the pad geometry wasnt the same the OE so would be checking the lift curve

if i ever goto the conventional valvetrain (hopefully the RHD stuff works out ok) on new engine i will just design my own DLC coated steel ones and use the 14 mm custom lift cam that catcams digitised for me. Catcams own steel rockers are really good but at that price should be DLC coated

I was looking at RHD stuff and for the price, was concerned about the availability of replacement parts.
Let's say the cam gets messed up or just one rocker. What is the availability of spare parts will be like since they are only sold as a kit (well not in stock right now)? My choices were :1) go with more prone to wear conventional setup with plenty of repair options. (yes new cam would prefer new rockers but 1/3 of the price of RHD for the whole setup)
2) go with $$$$ RHD and hope it will last forever or Rama will have parts on the shelf ( don't even know if he does as he isn't listing it as an option) as those rockers need his proprietary custom cam and vice versa.

Reading some feedback here on r3v and 2002 forum, I decided to skip KM as an option.
Maybe if I had a dedicated race car engine that get's inspected/rebuilt after each race, I'd give them a shot as a budget option. But they definitely look like subpar rockers to run long term (no bronze bushing, questionable geometry and pad finish etc)

Don’t disagree about RHD parts in the long run mostly the cam the rockers themselves could be remade if you had to with some effort but the cam can’t in practice

From PPF in sweden KM rocker 12pcs set in only 656 dollars, just rocker only. But still that is bargain deal vs oem. RHD would be super kill set, but that price is getting higher, also when hearing there is something in the needle bearing mean they should be even better, just was hearing in Grootys youtube channel, cannot say that is true
