I bought these 4x100 MINI COOPER S wheels with a hub bore of 56.1 for mini. BMW/VW use 57.1. So the wheels don't fit unless I would run a hub centric spacer to clear the hub pilot on the BMW, then attach the wheel.
The wheels look better with a 10mm-20mm spacers because mini wheels have around a 40 mm offset. Do you think this would be a problem? The pictures below show the wheel attached with around 10mm spacer. This was just a test fit.

I'd suggest 20mm spacer/adapters all around with 215/40 tires.

Thanks, I suspect I'll be doing some work. What about 215/45's? I'm more a fan of little stretch than lots.

I've noticed 215/45's are quite expensive compared to 205/45 or 225/45's, which put me onto 225/45, or if I had to 205/45's

215/45 requires some fender massaging but is possible. Make sure you search for pics first to see if you like it, the stretched sidewall can start to look funny at that height.

1991 318is Euroweave question. The car is getting an s52 soon, so I am thinking traction..

By the numbers, I could go to a 225/50/15 and not change the overall diameter (from stock) at all, but will it fit? The car is lowered on H&R OE springs (~1.25" drop all around) with KYB g2's.

Easy fit, no fender rolling needed.

I'm changing my question:

I'll be purchasing a set of Yokohama S.Drives soon. I've read a bunch of reviews and I really think they're the best tire for my budget. I realize these tires are not built for winter. But my question is, how much of cold temperatures can they endure before getting damaged?

I'm going to be driving across country again soon, from NYC to San Diego, and I'd like to have a fresh set of tires to take the trip with. So assuming I get the tires a few days before my trip, they'll onyl see a few days of cold weather in NY, and possibly 2-3 days on the trip before I get far enough South where the weather is warmer.

So, you think I can put them through a few days? Or should I take my chances with my old tires, and get the S.Drives once I get out to California?

If there's no snow, drive on them. Below freezing they will get very dangerous though.

I just bought a set of wheel which is 16x7 +40 on 215/45/16. Want to know if I will need any spacers? I'm planning to buy koni yellow/ground control and roll fenders. Want a nice fitment. Thanks!

I have narrowed down my potential wheel choices but am having a hard time figuring out fitment.

Option one:
17x7 27 offset

I currently have Bilstein Sport shocks with H&R sport springs so the car is lowered. I also do not like stretched tires and am wondering what tires I can put on them and not have them rub. I can roll the fenders if need be.

215/40/17 and 205/50/16. No fender rolling needed, tires will be far from stretched.

BBS RS 16x7 et25 (1' lip) and 16x8 et12 (2' lip). i want to change the lip. how wide i can go to get flush/stance? TIA

for now i'm running koni sport and IE3 w/ drop hats on late model. i might upgrade GC coilover soon. i have tires 205/45/16 never been mount on those rims.

How would E38 Style 5's (16x8, et23) fit on 18mm adapters (minimum, can be 20mm) while on 205/45/16 rubber? It'll be on stock 325i suspension and then on BC coilovers, opinions on both suspension setups would be the bee's knees. I'm be using the adapters temporarily while I assemble my 5-lug conversion parts.
