Dinan refuses any assistance with a used throttle body

I bought a "like new" BBTB from an unscrupulous eBay seller. I asked Dinan for help fixing it, they said call a local seller. I called several, all said they don't offer parts, sorry.

The issue seems to be the flap does not fully close (light is visible through it)

I offered to send the non functional one AND a core AND to pay to either get it fixed or get a new one, nope, just buy a new one for 700 plus shipping & tax.

I'll be avoiding them and their products going forward.

Can you adjust the flap location?

Loosen tension of the butterfly screws and see if the butterfly needs recentered. If it is centered check the throttle stop.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

I have moved, adjusted, removed & repositioned over & over. It will not seal. I love throwing 500 bucks away lol

The stop is 1/8th" away from touching the screw.

          Is the butterfly upside down?

I don't think so but I can try turning it around.

Is the diameter of the butterfly too small? Or is it not perpendicular in the bore of the throttle body?

Does that small gap matter? Did Dinan have anything to say about proper adjustment?

What parts were you going to buy to fix it? Do you have an idea of what is broken?

                    Dinan still sells e30 parts?

The butterfly is what they supplied, I'd like to believe it is the right size, I'm not interested in throwing parts at it, I would think 99.X% seal is needed, I'm not an engineer though.

I want Dinan to fix/replace it at some kind of reasonable price that is not full retail.

It is for an e36 S/M52.

If it’s sealed it’ll stick, you do want some lash set by the stop to keep it from sticking and compensate for expansion when hot.

But it looks like the top is catching first?

the 2 don't look anything alike. i'm guessing you have a stock throttle body with a dinan butterfly valve.

                              That is an M/S54 part, 2000-2002 for a Z3, mine is for a 1996-'99.

But thanks for I am really not sure what you are trying to accomplish. I am not trying to sell it, I am trying to warn they no longer offer the great service they were known for back in the day.
