I'm not even doing my usual morning stop at r3v anymore because it's just filled with spam every morning. It has been a long time since I looked at mod tools on a forum, it's probably totally different now, but I remember things like rangebans, wordfilters, and verification settings being pretty easy to implement even 20+ years ago on video game forums...

All are enabled, they are just getting smarter / more automated these days.

I also noticed most of the bots are outlook.com emails so I just added anyone with an outlook email on the ban list

Well... that took a while... I just figured out how to IP Ban people because its like the same bots are back with a +1 on their stupid name. Lets see if that helps...

I think we're still going to need to make changes, but hopefully this slows it down

Yeah, floodgates are open.

I think removing ability to post topics, heck even posts for newbies or have to go through a quarantine would do a lot. Make them invisible till a mod OK's it, kinda like reddit for new users under a subreddit. That would stop it from flooding at least the forums, sure a long que may start but empower more mods to check that and this place is cleaned up. Then enforce new spam/bot counter measures after that.
