"This 996 is in great condition. It has a custom 3.4 liter flat 6 with a twin turbo, making somewhere around 420 hp. Not the stock engine from the factory. I’ve had it looked at and worked on by Porsche specialists and they heartily approve. It’s a great little sleeper. Every time I drive it I don’t want to sell it! So much fun to drive... This 911 is not only quick and nimble but also incredibly fast. All the weight is in the back. Only traction control (that can be switched off) no Porsche stabilizers/computer nannies. Brakes are soft and can be upgraded. Small dings here and there but looks great from 5 feet away. A couple small oil leaks that will need to get repaired eventually—leaking maybe little less than an ounce a month total. The driver’s side window regulator needs to be adjusted. This is a relatively easy fix but involves removing the door panel. There’s an airbag light that comes on because a sensor in the seatbelt has been disconnected. All minor issues! The engine and transmission are in great shape! The new twin turbo engine has only about 15k miles on it. Feels great to drive. Feel free to ask me questions and to make reasonable offers! It’s because it’s a 996, stepchild if the 911 line. Actually great cars but because PPhiles don’t like it, they are dirt cheap.

I dont know if ES are getting that kind of cash, especially an 86 with painted bumpers but I could be wrong. Although that is a super nice interior, that had to have been redone with 181k on the clock.

The TT converted 996 is a cool car, I'd drive it. You can't not love a sports car that's under 3,000lbs and over 400hp.

I gotta take issue with him calling it a sleeper. Nobody sees a modern Porsche and thinks it will be slow, if anything they'd be surprised at how slow a stock 996 Carrera is because Porsche is synonymous with "fast" and 0-60 in 5s is base model Mustang territory these days. The only person you'd catch off guard in that thing is a Porsche snob who is expecting it to have a hundred less horsepower since it's a lowly 996 Carrera.

Quick post to keep this thread movin'. Here's an honest lil' ix coupe. Didn't make a ton of them. Nice ad. Not written by a complete dingleberry.

Overall, this has been a very reliable, well maintained, daily driver.

Details:

• 219K miles. (Mileage will change as I still use it as a daily driver.)
• Factory options include power sunroof, windows, full leather interior, heated front sport seats, rear seat w/arm rest & ski pass thru, premium stereo.
• All original VIN tags & and panels.
• AWD functioning – confirmed by “Jack Test.” (Video available.)
• Rear view mirror w/map lights,
• Front and rear spoilers.
• Previous owner originally purchased vehicle in New York in 1991. It has been in California since 1993.

Mechanical Condition:

• Engine starts easily, idles smoothly, and pulls evenly to redline.
• Timing belt - Approaching replacement date. (Replacement kit included. Was going to take it to my local shop, will defer replacement to potential buyers. Last replaced on 30DEC14 @ 207,803 miles.)
• No apparent oil burn
• Small oil leak from oil pan gasket
• Starts easily. Idle can be a bit uneven when engine is very cold. Smooths out, with even idle once warmed up.
• Clutch – Never changed during my ownership. Not sure of history. It catches near the top. No apparent slippage, including under load, climbing steep hills.
• Transmission - Shifts smoothly up and down gears. Second gear synchro can be a bit tricky. (Replacment included.)
• Shifter - Common bushing wear. (Rebuild kit included.)

Exterior Condition:

• All original panels with original VIN
• Car has been repainted once in 2010. But, as a daily driver, sitting in the California sun, the paint has faded.
• The previous owner had a misadventure with a bike rack on top of the car. Consequently, there was a dent that was repaired on the top rear of the roof.
• NO RUST. (Paint chip on roof).

Spare Parts (included in sale):

• Timing Belt replacement kit, including water pump.
• Spare transmission from a 1988 325ix that was totaled with 83K miles. (I have the CARFAX.)
• Complete shifter rebuild kit for 325ix.
• Original heated leather “Comfort” seats. (Removed shortly after purchasing car in 2002. All functions worked at that time.)

Records:

• Original window sticker and owner manuals.
• Maintenance records since 1997 & 89K miles
• The most recent maintenance is as follows:
o Inspection II accomplished @ 210K miles on 05/13/16
o Oil change
o Muffler replaced on 09JUL19 w/BOSAL-OEM
o Rear brakes & rotors replaced on 12JUL19
