My experience is if one of the 18-20yr old college kids working around Sears refuses to help you. Start talking really loud and aggrivated then ask to speak with the store's GM. If you continue to fuse really loud about to the GM it in front of other customers they always give in.

    Always worked for me.

Its not that they aren't honoring the warranty- its that Jordan lost the receipt for a product that has a time-limited warranty. Tough shit, buy another jack and save the receipt this time.

Craftsman non powertools are known to have a lifetime warranty I think it is reasonable to think it unnecessary to have proof of purchase after a lifetime of getting new tools for broken ones. I broke my 15mm socket and on my last trip to Laredo got a new one just by walking up to the counter and asking for it.

I have all my receipts but I have never brought one to Sears to replace a hand tool and I have never needed one.

The jacks are not lifetime warranty, they are one year.

Well, Jordan original post seems to make it clear that he was well aware of the 1 year warranty when he purchased the jack.

Did I say the jack was lifetime? No I said "Craftsman non powertools are known to have a lifetime warranty"

Seeing as this is not electric I think an intelligent person could successfully argue that they did not know a receipt was necessary as they had never needed one in the past and get the store to break loose with a replacement.

Jesus jumped-up Christ, could you guys possibly continue squabbling over this?

Bottom line. Jordan, you should have saved the receipt. Unfortunately hindsight is 20-20, and I guess you'll know for next time.

The run-around Sears is giving you? Lame. They should have no problem digging into their system to find a record of the sale. A manager and liberal amount of bitching should produce results. Unfortunately again, you aren't anywhere near Albany anymore.

The idea of buying another one and returning the old one in the new box with the new receipt would almost work, except for one problem. I think they're going to notice that that jack he returns that he supposedly just bought is a little beat on and worn from a year of VERY frequent use.

Buy another jack, save the receipt, cut your losses and just say fuck it.

I was not aware of the warranty period upon purchase. I just assumed it was lifetime like everything else I've ever bought from Sears. Only when I talked to someone here at Sears did I learn it was 1year. Just the same I am still within that period.

There is nothing on the box, or on the website indicating the warranty period either.

Not knowing is not an excuse. Its like saying that you didnt know what the speed limit was when you get pulled over for speeding.
