Yeah, I just get more and more pissed off with pipe dreamers doing dumb shit to a very special, rare, and expensive car just because it makes them happy. Well I don't give two shits what makes them happy; I care about keeping M3s intact. If my opinion somehow infringes on your ability to do what you want, then that's like some X-Files shit right there. Like mind control or something.
I Echo this, I'm not going to do extraordinarily dumb things to my 318is because I think its a clean car. Why someone would do that do an M is beyond me... But I hate others telling me what I can and can't do, so I won't hate...

I'd do stupid racecar things to a car that is already totaled however... All it takes these days is light quarter panel damage for a car to be totaled, I got parts off a totaled 325i that had a 2' by 1' dent in the quarter and a slightly pushed in bumper. Do dumb things to cars like that! It had lots of life left to go to the crusher!

And nobody gives a fuck what makes you happy, I know I'm tired of hearing you whine, I can't be the only one.

And for the S38, its period correct and a good size group believe that it should have come stock with the S38 myself included. Also I'm not just ditching the S14, I would just prefer it to be safely stored away at home.
....Or MY HOME plz... '92 my racer was turbo'd and produced around 450hp, lightweight, plenty of room, and period correct. But, it is a free world, and even a gutted M3 can still (in the right hands) be brought back to original. Unfortunately, the original "Unrestored" versions in mint....yes.... fewer n fewer.

solution: Buy flares/trunklid/body-susp. kit.....done - LS3 if that's your choice, and post on utube :???:

Those M3's were the O.G. evos.

You'd get as much if not more enjoyment from keeping the existing S14 (if some dipshit didn't already swap it with a fucking S52) and going the 2.5L route. Balance is maintained, and you get a screaming, high-output 4 banger.

And to all you dreamers who go on about stripping it and turning it into a race car "because that's what it was built for," is your plan to actually race competitively? How? Are you going to quit your job, get sponsors and just live the life as pro M3 driver? Get real. Does a casual track day every month or so require a complete strip down and cage? You're a fucking idiot if you do.
    Holy fuck you're mad.

So, if I ever own a E30 M3 it will look exactly like this.... with the S14 at home perfectly built on a stand and a N/A S38B38 under the hood. Thats my dream you all can judge it as you see fit. /THREAD :)
BOOM!!! Me too! I love this car! I think I would find a "not so perfect" one to do this too, but that car was beautiful, especially on its SSR Formula Mesh...

    How can you hate this!?!?!???

I'd go S54 in mine, if the s14 was DOA or MIA...

    Much Butthurt in this thread...

Do what you want, if you need a perfect one, then find one. If you need a racer, those are out there as well!

Yes, I do understand the purpose and why they chose the S14, no argument there. Where I think my "skewed" perception comes from is an old advertisement poster my dad showed me a long time ago it read something like "The BMW M3. Anything other sports sedans can do, this one does outrageously." and how much more outrageous can you get at the time (1988 ) than a 340hp, 1 ton and some change, S38 purebred race car. Sounds pretty freakin sweet to me, but then again its probably my skewed perception. ;)
