Anything else I should watch for?
Just prepared for the trans output shaft nut to be a bitch. I used heat and a pneumatic gun and couldn't get it off. Ended up having to make a tool to hold the flange.

Rushing out to meet GF (Long time ago), did not pull up ebrake enough so when I got out of the car while leaving the driver door open, to close Garage door, the car rolled back a little and the door beading caught neighbours wall and the beading ripped out of the door.
Luckily the window was open, so before the door hooked the wall and could be ripped out of the car, I just, just managed to pull up the ebrake stop the car rolling back further.

The whole time after that I was thinking of what could have happened. Anyway.. lucky escape and lesson learn't.

I owned an 84 318i about 8 years ago. Nice car, had gold BBS in 8x15, Zender kit (front dam, side skirts and trunk spoiler).
I was doing a tire rotation and didn't realize that the rear bolts were shorter than the front bolts (due to the rim offset), I put in the larger bolts in the rear tearing my brake shoes and slave cylinder apart. A quick trip to the salvage yard and fixed my issue but I felt like a total douche after. Needless to say that now that I work on my brakes I get real careful of my bolt placement even knowing that they are all the same length.
I am not sick, I am twisted. Sick makes it sound like there is a cure.

Taking off shortened sump because it was leaking. Gasket goo instead of proper gasket.
Won't come off using hand strength, so I get a screwdriver and lever.
              POP
Promptly splashes all the oil that hadn't drained right in to my face.
Can confirm that mildly warm 15-40 is pretty fuckin bad

So far the only big mistake was buying Vaders and then selling them for less then I bought because I decided they were too heavy and went for a more OE look.

But I am about to do an engine swap so I am sure there will be WAY more dumb mistakes coming.

Not an E30, but my previous DD was an E36 M3. Was driving to work on parkway with my 10 year old son ("take your kid to work day"). All of a sudden, my son says, "Dad...there's smoke coming out the back". I look down and my water temp is quickly climbing. With no where to pull off, I drive the car for another mile to nearest exit. I ended up blowing the motor. Buy a used replacement S52 and after all is done end up dropping $3500 to replace it. 4 months later with the SAME kid in the car, I get rear-ended by a teenage driver. Car sustained more than $10K in damage, why the insurance company didn't total it, I have no idea. 3 months after that I run over freshly killed deer on a poorly lit road. Minor damage to front. Wait 3 weeks for bodyshop to fix. They get it all fixed up and the day before I'm supposed to pick it up, a delivery truck the bodyshop yard clips the right front bumper and tears off the front of my car.

I should have quit when the motor was blown.

Drifted onto a curb and smashed the oil pan.

A month earlier I smashed another oil pan. Bought the car with shitty lower springs and against my dads advice i took it into the city for a date. At 2am i was leaving city on FDR Drive. Hit a giant pothole and smashed the pan. This was 2009 and i knew nothing about cars. Made it a mile before the engine started making noises and wanting to shut off from massive vaccum leak and seizing.

Tow truck driver came and i soon realized how f**ked i was. They put it on the tow truck and a drunk driver ran into it on the way home as it hung off the truck. Car was totaled.

Sold the sport seats from my E30 parts car then two months to the day after the sale, the driver seat in my car breaks. Took several months to find a donor seat for parts. The plan was to send my parts car to the crusher this month ....... might have to hang onto it for awhile.

This just in: backed up onto ramps, then over the ramps. Ugh. Fortunately that put them right at the jack points.
