"Shows what someone is willing to pay" ...no not just someone in a fluke auction who just had to have it but it shows what many people are willing to pay over years. When it keeps happening, it's a trend. BAT as an auction site is even more indicative of the market because it caters to enthusiasts/collectors and they are the ones buying these cars today. If I sell an M3 on CL for $10k, it doesn't mean that's all they are worth. It means I left money on the table in favor of a quick sale. I would get a hundred calls a day for it because I priced it too low. That's more of a fluke as it doesn't happen that often anymore. It's certainly not indicative of the market value. At the end of the day, you don't even really know what the actual selling price was either but it's typically lower than the advertised price. Then there are the cars that change hands between collectors that are never advertised as well.
"I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

I guess this isn't the place to rant, but I'm still burnt from yesterday. Maybe we should start a "Dealing with Insurance" thread to document market value and stuff.

The nice thing, is you do not have to accept their offer. Until you sign the agreement for the payout, you can fight it. See if you can find a public adjuster that deals in auto.

I agree with you, do not accept offer....proven sold units is what sets the market! or at least I hope so, or maybe i've been over paying!

I dont keep track of what the M3s record selling price is, but I think 100k+ might be a record. And just think of how easy it is to have disconnected the odometer, especially when you live in Japan where thats basically the limit haha I hope its all legit numbers.

Either way, Im happy that I own a POS 325i

                      wow

That being said, it wouldn't surprise me if this $100k+ car got relisted.

Personally, I think the right bidders were present and it was perfectly spec'd for their own needs.

                            The bargain price of $27k.

I haven't been following but damn $102k?...good for the seller for having the foresight to snatch up these cars from auction in Japan and bring them over. Simon, I think that's a record on BAT but EAG has sold a couple for almost double that price!
