See below quote, sums it up perfectly. I was trying to finish mine while getting married, and realized the car does not fit into the goals of my marriage. I would no longer be spending weekends at the track. I would no longer have a garage to work on the car where I lived with my wife as we chose to live within walking distance of our work so we could enjoy eachothers company for another 2+hrs/day. I wanted to invest what I had left over after the sale and purchase of a cheap SlowRunner for more retirement/house savings. I wanted to be the husband that changes my life and hobbies because I want to share my goals and experiences with my wife. I would like to get back into racing, when I know it will not compromise retiring very comfortably. But will retirement entail racing, or more shared experiences such as RV camping across the world with the girl I share my dreams with?

So to start, I had to put away my biggest idol, expense, desire that would compromise the time my wife and I desire together, and to build a family.

In the mean time, I picked up mountain bike riding....gotta have a vice! Along with that probably starting a drone mapping side business to maintain some fun outside the typical grind.

Selling the E30 would have been hard for the past 10+ years. It only took 3 months to change my mind, and my wife let me battle with myself, letting me choose which way I went with the car. She did not push me either direction, but did help weigh the pros and cons with me in a very loving manner.

I still browse BAT...looking at E30s, X5Ms, Raptors, Formula Ford etc...its a disease that we always try to fill time with what we think we want, instead of filling time with what we have. In my case, a loving girl that wants a family and to experience some travels along the way.

Doesn't happen all of the time, but I've had my fair share (deff not $70k's worth) of cars that I've sold directly after a build because I was taxed and just wanted it gone. Hard to enjoy a car like that sometimes, but usually something happens that causes you to resent the car, whether it's money, time, shop, issues, comfort, etc etc.

I have also purchased several cars after someone built them and didn't put the final touches on them because they resented the cost involved in getting to that point and didn't want to see it through.

Doesn't make any sense, but it happens quite often.

I'm 100% on the same page as AWDBOB and R3Z3N. Personally, if this s54 does well this go-round I might have a hard time not listing mine. BAT already has my pictures and write-up from a while ago. I love the build process, and enjoy the heck out of driving my e30, but now I have a new project and I've made the e30 too nice. I have my e30 sitting in storage and I rarely drive it because it's a pain to get out. I would also be crushed if anything happened to it.

My favorite e30 was a bonestock 325is with 315k miles that I beat hard and didn't care about.

That was unexpectedly wholesome and a reminder that our priorities change as we get older.

$25k was the selling price. A $45k bath sounds a bit cold for my blood.

This, also these builds take time if you are doing them right and priorities change. When I started my project I just got married we had all the free time in the world and my wife was helping me work on it. Now 4 years later with a kid and work its becoming harder to get too and just really enjoy it. I am not selling mine at this point, but I can see a time that I probably would just because I am different then I was 4 years ago.

Although I will probably buy something else to work on because I always need some project lol.

That 90 325i looks like a good one to bid on as it shouldn't be saddled with the idiotic "is" designation tax, and those wheels ought to put a lot of folks off.
