I have been looking for a swapped M3. I don't see it being a good idea to swap back in the S14 since I can get an untouched good one for <$35k. Other E30 S14 examples look to have sold between $30k-$40k on BaT and this one is now at 35k. Based on comments the spare S14 might not be the original engine that came with that car.

I know, I was more excited about that than the M3. I've read a few of the drive logs from his rallies in that car.
It has a well documented history and is sudo famous in the iX world, so it should go for a little more than the average iX I would think..

I'm very surprised it's at $35k already with 6 days left. Keeping the euro S50 in makes the most sense. The S14 was pulled long ago, won't match the chassis mileage and they are saying it's not the engine from this car anyway. Potential buyers are probably thinking about selling it to recover some of the purchase price. Since the swap was done so early, they likely rewired the C101 instead of using a conversion harness. I also hear the firewall needs be dented in in order to fit the Euro S50 headers. Looks like some digging was done on the red euro s50 M3. BMW responded that the S14 that comes with the car is not originally from this car. So the assumed ultra-low mileage of this S14 is out the window. Too bad.Comment
