Sunroofs are standard equipment on BMW's, you have/had to special order slicktops. Few years ago a friend bought an e39 from the original owner, and he ordered it slicktop, manual transmission and brushed aluminum interior trim instead of the faux wood grain. I have yet to see another e39 without a sunroof.

No question. Sunroofs leak and rust and are a bitch to repair/replace. Oh yours isn't rusting now? It will. Doesn't leak now? It will some day when you least want it to. And not just the sunroof panel itself, the roof around it will rust too, from the inside out. Have fun dropping the headliner to fix that. I hate my sunroof, if it weren't for that infernal thing and the rust it caused in my roof the only rust on my car would be the couple of small spots in the floor which are easy to fix. When I restore the car I'll remove the cassette and do an honest-to-goodness slicktop conversion.
Nah, don't have that problem out west. I stand by what I said. 5 hardtop e30's later & no rust or headliner issues from sunroofs on any of them, but please do go on about how terrible they are.

It's one of the few cars left that you can stay comfy while driving with the windows up and NOT have the HVAC system operating to keep you comfy.
Such a simple, yet effective system of airflow.

After two e30's and 16 years with my current one, I have yet to experience any of what he's talking about.
Also thoroughly enjoying the rant as well

Looks like it sold for $23k. Seems like a good deal for them. Thought it might have fetched more.

                Yeah, but it's a slicktop.
                That alone adds like fourteenkay!

1988 e30's and a bit the later on cabrios had "tucked" bumpers from factory. They were about an inch shorter and the shocks still work. We just put the front on the endurance car, rear shocks are full length. Nothing like bump drafting at 147mph in an e30 on the Daytona banking. :p

What are you seeing that makes it very very far away? I looked at all the pics in the ad and it looks pretty darn clean to me for a 30 year old unrestored car.
                            I'd love to own that.

I'm curious where this one is going to end up. Bronzit, Canadian and kind of a sketchy past. Low miles tho!
