It’s mostly a universal cai. Kamotor put together a bracket and put a sticker on it. Many vendors do that before cnc and 3d printers become cheaper and popular.
I hope KA Motors filed some sort of patent on their product(s).
I doubt it - seeing as it's a pretty generic product; there are stacks of carbon fibre cold air intakes around of similar design. Then there's the cost involved in applying for the patent. Minimum of $3k if you can do most of it yourself + use a reasonable lawyer; can be much more than that if others need to help out with the application, eg. industrial designers etc.
who the heck shops at Sears, much less for car parts?
Anyway, he probably doesn't have a leg to stand on for the part itself (it's not like you can patent a CAI), but he could certainly require them to remove that picture if it's his and he can prove it. I've seen vendors using my photos on Ebay before, it's both infuriating and flattering..
Upgrade your car's performance with our racing air intake fans. Enjoy better airflow, fuel efficiency, and a sportier sound. Shop high-quality parts now!
Sears is the original place to order all kinds of crazy shit and have it show up at your house.
This ^^
If you ever get the chance to sift through an old sears catalog, do it, it'll be the greatest 10 mins of your life. Rockets, Arcade Games, Chandeliers, RC Toys, Boats, Car Parts.. I can't even describe it.
