Same. And wow, you are aging me. 0.o I was older than you when I signed up here 15yr ago :/
Yeah, the nv isn't even 30hp lol, rated BHP is 189. The m50 vanos IRL puts down about 5-10whp more than an m20 stock for stock.
it's funny, i went and drove my red s50 car this morning. it feels slow to me anymore. my e30m3 with a CR (dogleg) box feels faster - hard to say if it really is, but the gearing and that rev happy little engine makes all the difference in the world. time is a funny thing. hahahah'72 2002 pickup | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '01 Z3M | '11 328xi-t

But seriously, I'd like another E30 at some point, but I ain't got the time for that right now, plus their prices are not really helping me like it used to.
James is busy with other stuff I'm sure but the change to a better loading and more modern software I think will help.
FB has been slowly killing car forums and forums in general for years, this is the desolate wasteland of what remains for car forums.
I still try to visit and lurk here and there.

Simon, I swear I sat down yesterday evening to finally start my cluster fuck of cars thread and I couldn't even load r3v
I will try again tonight after work...
I agree with us being on top of our own threads would help new people stick around.Originally posted by wholepailofwaterQ:devil:

And yeah, after posting about age, realized my youngest of 4 kids wasn't even born when I signed up, the oldest was 8 - now he is shopping for a car and the oldest already graduated college - over a year ago!!! 0.o

Not surprised. The s14 is lighter and makes almost as much HP as the s50 lol. Coupled with the close ratio and high ratio diff, they are probably more evenly matched than expected.

the s50 has a flatter torque curve and an overdrive transmission with longer gears. the s14 is always in the powerband with the CR box (and 3.23 M-Coupe differential) and pulls HARD all the way to 8k. i think the m3 would be faster off the line til probably about 70 or so. the s50 car definitely feels quicker from about 70 onward, where the longer gears really come into play.
time flies - it's even weirder when your clients have kids and then they start coming to you for service (i'm sure you can relate to that, haha)'72 2002 pickup | '88 M5 | '89 330is | '89 M3 | '01 Z3M | '11 328xi-t

I do. Frequently. And hopefully I'll be starting another build thread soon. But it won't be a truck build thread, unfortunately. ;-)
I've only been around for a little over 5 years, but thanks to this forum I've learned a ton, I've met some great people, and I've made some great friends.

After the “This is Porn” thread got deleted I lost all hope in R3v (Jk). But I do miss the shit talking on the dorks (for example, the kid that “poped” his tire and crashed into that residential home, then someone found the address & delivered pizza, LOL).
But in all seriousness, after starting my career in 2016 the e30 lifestyle faded quite a bit for me. Now that I recently obtained an e30 M3 my passion has come back quite a bit. I will eventually start a thread for both of my e30s.sigpic

Facebook is pleb filtering for us, we get fewer dumbasses on forums now because most of them stick to that irredeemably garbage site.

There will always be room for forums like this. Fb/reddit suck. The major media/publication companies always put out underwhelming content. I have been learning blacksmithing lately and I have had to swim through a sea of mediocre guide until I found one that actually answered my question about anvils. These little guys always do good work but they are harder to find.Last edited by KarlieBoeBoe; 02-26-2021, 04:41 PM.
