Valve cover gaskets are supposed to be replaced every time you remove the valve cover.

I'd try and scrape the rest of those small spots of cosmoline off the VC before you spray paint it. There were like 2 small ones on mine and they show through the paint, and the paint has a very hard time bonding to them.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Idk, you may not be wrong. Which fan sometimes stays on after the car is shut off? Whichever fan stays on must be the one your talking about, I know for sure the e39s do this.

Quick update, ot really turbo related. Everyone has been hastling me about the valve cover and how shitty it was, so this should shut everyone up. lol

I sandblasted the original cover, got some high temp paint, then sanded the ribs. I think it looks darn good for a DIY. The intake manifold it next.

I'v gotten alot done since my last update. I installed the FMIC, FMU, oil line fittings, and painted the intake manifold. About 5 min. ago I finished cutting out the grills in the valance, I think it looks pretty cool. Some pics of everything below.

            Intercooler from ebay

A cheap piece of angle-iron takes care of mounting

My first real problem so far is I realized I have to remove the brake ducts with this intercooler. This is why!

            The FMU installed

A shot of the fittings. I used a 12mmX1.5 fitting to replace the stock oil pressure switch. From there I installed a tee. One port is for the 90 degree elbo (pictured) and one for the sender for my oil pressure gauge. The actual lines themselves will be going in soon.

Of couse whats a painted valve cover without a painted manifold??

Heres a shot of the valance, with the grills still in place, then a shot of the grills cut out.

            And grills removed

            More to come!

Yup, on my old car I couldn't run the brake ducts either. Also couldn't run the fogs [because of not fitting on one side] but that's something I could have fixed with an extra pipe. Oh well.

Every local place said they never had them, so I went to fittingsandadapters.com and they had it. A down side of that site is theres a $10 minimum, so I just bought the rest of the stuff I neede too. The site otherwise is great, they have pretty much everything.
