thinned out the body harness, so much simpler now and less cluttered.

You can see how thin is now.

cleaning up the engine bay, need to paint a few spots, wrap turbo side in heat tape etc.

need to replace steering rack boot

yeah, I really want one of those stickers!

not much of an update, engine bay cleaned up, I'll kmow the details on my bottom end tomorrow so I can order bearings and piston rings and other than that the engine bay is just about ready to accept a new motor.

quick question about the driveshaft I was told that I could use the front half of the 535i driveshaft combined with the rear of an E30 bu its looking like the combined length is a few inched longer than a 325i driveshaft. what are my other options as far as driveshaft is concerned?

Driveshafts are balanced as a unit so I wouldn't want to mix and match.

You should be able to use a stock E30 driveshaft. That's what we did on Shant's car. You can either find the Eta large guibo driveshaft or swap a small flange on to the trans.

Two easiest ways here. Either use a SETA(Large giubo) Driveshaft or Swap on a 325i(Small Giubo) output flange and use a 325i Driveshaft.

I would suggest not running the small giubo, especially for a M30 turbo car.

Just due to the ease of it I found and swapped in a SETA (or early 325) drive shaft.

Good point! The car I've done it on was NA.

It seems like a 96+ E36 328/M3 driveshaft would also work, no?

Correct. Same as a 24v swap. e30m3, e36m3/328 and late eta would all work, e36 variants needing the CSB flipped. Early eta and all 325i (both e36 and e30) came with small Guibos.

I got my large guibo driveshaft out of a 1985 325. They can be found in the 1984 and 1985 325 cars but you have to install a late model CSB if you are installing it in an 88 or newer

Not sure the dates of the driveshaft change, but I have owned 3 eta's 86 and 87, all had the small guibo.

Yeah the 86 and 87 were definitely small guibo. And not all of the 85's had large guibo's but many of the 85's I have come across did have the larger disc.

Sorry for derailing your build thread!
