can anyone tell what car this m20 was pulled out of, i cant recognize those mount arms. i'm thinking its an ix motor but seller says 325ii

is it just me, or does it look like it has a rear sump pan on it in the 2nd picture?

IX for sure. Look at the oil pan.

Dude that is an ix motor all the way. The standard e30 oilpan WILL NOT fit without drilling and tapping the block.

And then there is the oil pump drive spinning backwards, no oil pressure relief port in the block, etc.

you can make it fit but it will take some machine work.

there's also no boss for the oil dip stick tube.

Because small cell phone screen. I knew it wasnt 325i, I thought it didnt even have a pan in the pic lol.

ah, I'm on a 27" monitor i can see how you nearly missed that pan. Just walk from that one, m20 engines are easy to get CHEAP. Sorry to see the m30 go, must be frustrating, hope it all works out for you.
