Ah so me thinks you destroyed threads on crank the first time it came loose and because you didnt replace crank it knocked it loose the second time cause the threads cant properly seat. new crank no more problems?

Yes new crank and flywheel and id likely be good..... but im not going to bother. I should be able to make more than enough selling my m30 stuff to afford an entire e30 to pull a motor out of.

Nooooo m30 will be so much better your still gonna have to rebuild the m20 and your gonna loose all the torques you had.

I do not plan on rebuilding the m20 bottom end, its going to be a simple, performance head, set of itbs, drop it in and drive

Not turbo, taking a break from boost. I can turbo it or another bmw when I get bored of it.

You have the m30 in there already and the power band should be plenty unless you are concerned with overheating issues or swap related concerns.

Sounds like it might be time to take a step back and focus on something else for a while. Come back to it when you've got a level head.

M30 powerband when n/a was terrible compared to a peppy m20. I like revving out high and the m30 is a grunty torque monster that likes to stay between 3500 and 5k. I like revving things out like 2 strokes. I drove several times before the turbo and I was very unimpressed.
