Got head out it another 20minutes, so only 1 hour labor and ready to reassemble. All 6 cylinders were ovaled but only one had the water jackets in the cylinder hole lol.....

I'll be uploading the time lapse of it this week when I can get WiFi working on my laptop.

I get this question like once a week so ill give a full answer, but you have to get block machined flat and if the headgasket doesn't blow on a bad tune than much worse happens.

A great tune can get away with stock headgasket without issue, I'm pretty sure I've proven that as I beat the snot out of my m20s.

This is my second headgasket since the beginning of this build thread, the ONLY times I get a headgasket issue is when I go all crazy trying to get the absolute last bit of hp via ignition advancing WITHOUT increasing boost levels.

This is how you learn and the last thing I want is $$$$ money dumped into my motor when it's literally capable of killing me as is lol.

401whp and 2600lbs is just about unusable anywhere under 65mph,The car has never been faster than this latest iteration. The car is to the point where spirited overtaking on the freeway usually ends up with you leaving some nice black 11's behind you.

I run junkyard motors because I spend less than $400 for complete motors and get years of use at 400whp.

^ well said. I'm against o-ring for this reason as well. Headgasket is a fuse. Rather take a few hours to do a gasket than rebuild the bottom end because the pressure has to go somewhere.

I never thought of a oem head gasket as a fuse for the engine. That actually makes pretty good sense. Ill have to keep that in mind.

do you have the water passages on the head welded? or not even that?

using the gasket as a fuse makes a lot of sense.

One less thing to buy. I like things that get my budget down :)

That's with a freshly skimmed head yeh?

Got the motor back together now just need to finish a few things up like rerouting charge pipes, adding my new water temp gauge in.

I filmed it but no WiFi still so can't upload. Took less than 2 hours so far. I plan on going to the catuned open house on the 30th

Ignore the grime, I'll be cleaning and replacing all gaskets, rocker shaft plugs etc tomorrow
