I love torsens. I switched to one a while ago and will never go back. I'm going hydro handbrake so I can get out of those "low bias" situations.
I find the torsen to be much friendlier when you over do the power in corners (although that's pretty hard to do on a stock engine).
Heck I find the torsen to be better for driving in general. I break loose in corners so much less than before.

so its stupid hot today and I finally got the new conservative 16psi tune virtual dynoed .. I'm not dissapointed but talk about "peaky". All that power I had past 6k now dies off, not as bad as stock but it still falls off. I guess that is what to expect when I'm like 10degrees more retarded than before.
This was out of 4 runs, all of them showing the same drop offLast edited by kamotors; 06-01-2013, 03:13 PM.

You should just get it dyno tuned for the spark, it is the really the only way to tune it to keep it at a safe timing and without leaving HP on the table.
You should be able to overlay your virtual dyno sheets? If you had the time and were methodical about it you could probably do similar tuning if you can keep consistent runs back to back and pick one WOT load point and see where there is no increase of torque at that point when increasing timing and back it off a touch.Comment

I think a 76r would be better suited for your goals.
Or better yet, I think PTE lets you custom build turbos?Comment

Okay. Lets start crudely comparing with your buddy's turbos.
They linked me saying they are running this turbo
Specs say:
Compressor inducer 50.8mm / Compressor exducer 76.2mm
Turbine inducer 65.5mm / Turbine exducer 55.88
The listing says its a 63 trim (lol), but math says it's actually a 44 trim turbo. That's why it spools so damn quick and I'm sure it's going to fall after 5k if they make near 300whp.
Also, the turbine is a 70trim.
You know the characteristics of their cars feel so I'll leave that up to you.
Your current turbo is a 56 trim compressor with a huge 1.09 trim turbine wheel which I think is what's hurting your spool time.
The 76r is also a 56 turbo, but the compressor wheel uses smaller diameters(57mm inducer / 76mm exducer) with an 84 trim turbine unlike your 1.09. Wheel sizes, even if the same trim mathematically, make a huge difference in spool time. And we all know the whole hurr durr "smaller equals faster spool" thing.
So I can't say how much quicker it will spool compared to your gt35-spec'd turbo, but it will definitely be an upgrade and get to your same power levels. The compressor map below for the 76r shows that the boost level you're using (~18psi iirc = 2.4 pressure ratio) is capable of reaching 400 hp (roughly 45lb/min or less) and still stay within the efficient islands (anything 70% and over). So I don't think it's going to die up top even with your cam.
There are also other variables that I'm leaving out that would determine efficiency, but this is just a broad view which I think will ultimately benefit you if you step down size.
And like others have mentioned. Make an appointment for the dyno already :DLast edited by ak-; 06-02-2013, 02:44 PM.Comment
