We succesfully passed a BMW meet with autocross event on airport. I was in "race" category, because I had slicks and stripped interior and won 2nd place. I was only one with 4cyl in this category. First was widebody E36 with stroked M50 engine and 3rd was stock M3 E36 with stripped interior. :)

    Got trophy...

    And some photos from action...

Too much roll, need better suspension setup for next season.

Found complete coilover system from CXRacing for $785, which is such a good price for complete coilovers with front camber plates and rear poly top mounts.

This one is perfect. Me and my friend did some sprints for fun with his M50B20 E36. He couldn't catch me until ca. 140km/h. M10 power :)

After meet I washed and polished my car and took some photos while cruising around the city.

And for the end, I started working on M10 engine project. Plan is bore it to 92mm with M30B35 pistons, stroke it to 80mm with M10/M64 320i crank and get 2.1L displacement. With proper camshaft and itbs it should be a fun to drive. :)

Need to clean it properly with hot water, then get M30 pistons, crank with 80mm stoke, do some measurements with engine guy and if everithing will be okay, let's start. ;)

      Something happened...

Friend let me drive his 325i and I decided I need this in my life... So M10 project is actually stopped and I am searching for parts for swap this heavy piece of iron into a car. After week I found almost everything... It was really easy, because parts for M20s have almost everyone who have or had e30...

Engine need some care, like new seals, some headwork etc. But in overall it's in good shape. And I can't wait when I hear it start in a car. :)

Okay guys, after month I am here with some news...

I've got car scratched all around with something sharp. On driver's side it's not too visible, but on passenger side is scratch much deeper and visible...
I hope polishing whole car solve the problem. I know that paint will never be like before but I can't leave it like this...

And now the better news. I was scared that stock M20B23 will be boring and slow, so I changed my plans one more time and now I am building a stroker from this engine. I bought M54B30 pistons and rods, cleaned them and stored them into a cardboard box until my block will be bored and honed to 84mm. Also bought M52B28 crank, ordered dbilas 290 cam, bought Yamaha R1 itbs, stainless steel exhaust headers from our local supplier (they are pretty same as ebay ones) and programmable ecu. And this is how 200+hp n/a build began...
Also bought almost everything for M20 swap.

Looks like someone keyed it, I hate that. My car looks like crap and I would still be livid if someone keyed it. People can be such garbage.

Yesterday I bought complete 885 head. It's ready to machining, pressure test for leaks and cleaning. It's from seized engine, but cam journals and everything looks like new, so it was good buy. It was for $50...

Now it's time to take apart the engine.

I will post some pics later. :)

And for keyed paint... I have a suspicion who did it. And if it was that guy, it was my fault, because I was an idiot and had "problem" with his gf. But on the other way, it could be just a coincidence...

Nice. I love M20B28, I kind of want one, but mine would be turbocharged.

I want throttle response. So less rotating parts and less rotating weight is better for me. I want to build an engine with power but I want it use as my daily car too. So turbocharger is not the best way for me. I know, stock turbocharged M20 will have much more power and torque than this n/a after upgrades and much more money throwed into it...

Still wondering about itbs. They are perfect, I love their sound and it's something special what no one, who I know, have on engine. But ported stock B25 intake with bigger tb will be maybe better solution for engine like this. With itbs I still need to build an airbox, because six small filters are bad way. Last cyls will suck hot air from bay, so it's a little bit counterproductive. And fabricating airbox is not that easy as using one tb with one filter.

So, in meanwhile I tried put pulley with trigger wheel from motronic engine and it fit with no problems. Pulleys are changable without any mods. Stock B23 have big and heavy counterweight on pulley.

It looks like brake disc on the photo :)

I hope everyone understand what I wrote. I still have problems with tenses. In czech lang we have only 3 and english lang have 7? Or more, I don't know. :) And my vocabulary is weak too...

ITBs will get you more power and more throttle response than a stock intake, if you tune it well. They also sound good, expensive, though. My local BMW performance shop (wot-tech) does ITB setups so I've seen a few, the owner is currently working on an ITB Turbo setup. You can still have fun without mountains of power, I just think overkill is consistently more fun.

As for your English, it's fine. Seems to me that most of the non-native English speakers who apologize about their English speak it very well.

And how manifolds clear oil filter with cooler housing.

Anyone tip for good oil cooler? I found some cheap ones on ebay but I am not sure about quality of these coolers. I can't use stock because I have 4cyl valance without vents so I want it relocate it before kidneys with use of custom hoses.

Varg: I think they add more torque than power. We've got them on this little beast and after change instead of stock intake with bigger tb from nissan sr20det, engine have much more lowend torque and high is almost the same. But this is small 1.3 litre engine with 9k redline, so on a M20 it could be different.

Oh, I forgot photo with my disassembled 885 head ready for machining and porting.

This is very handy tool for disassembling valve spring locks and removing valves.

Shame about not using the m10 it's a great engine but at least you resisted the temptation for a plastic engine swap. Does that crank have the toothed wheel for vanos at the back? Can you take a pic?

This B23 engine came from early (chrome) model. No late (plastic) models was equiped with this engine. It still have distributor in engine block, not on cam like late model engines. I can't see a problem with M20 swap into chassis originaly with M10. If you do the work right.
